Nah, I don't think that you really want robocop - You' ll loose your claim of possible police brutality.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Bulky coat. Although, I presume a bag of some sort would be sufficient as well.

He had a bulky jacket on, on a hot summer's day. Way to bring attention to yourself.

British police are the best in the world, hence they did the right thing.

Didn't the police have surveillance on the house he was living in? If so, why didn't they stop him when he came out?

The surveillant police were not armed. They passed the man on to armed police once he entered/left the bus.

On what basis was Menezes suspected to be a suicide bomber?
                            *Bulky coat
*Left block of flats been watched by police (the address of which was found among the documents of suicide bombers)
*Ran when police told him to stop

It's tragic that this guy died. I think that the people here who support the police's actions but also seem intent on blaming the whole sorry episode on Menezes 'stupidity' are displaying a horrible lack of sympathy for the victim. Many of those who agree with the police's policy seem to want to find a scapegoat for the tragedy - Menezes - when one is not called for.

I agree with the police's actions but don't see why anyone needs to be blamed. I can see why he could have run and I can see why the police took the action they did. Nobody is to blame (going on what we currently know).

Zulu, in times such as these we have to support the police and our security serivces to do all they can to root out extremists in our midst.

It's not as if the Brazilian would not have been able to understand English (or if he didn't, why was he supposedly working over here).

If you're being chased, you run to the nearest police station, not the nearest tube station.

I don't think many here actually harbor ill will towards the victim, but just because I sympathize with the guy does not mean he is

                                a.) not a dumbass

                                or

b.) didn't escalated the situation by his own decision.

And by no means am I going to say the police handled the situation perfectly, but I do think they did so to the best of their ability and through sound reasoning by those on hand, with circumstances taken into account.
