Do you mean they stopped you from downloading or they actually cut you off from the internet?
      Is there a difference?

I mean, I suppose he could use telnet to post to Poly, but being unable to see any of the threads would make it a bit difficult...

I was wondering the same myself as I was typing that. I'm assuming that there's a difference between a file download and a page download, but that could easily be wrong.

When we go over the limit, we get thrown to smalband, which I think is 33Kb a second. * shivers *

Not only that, we have a sliding metre, which means that the traffic you generated 30 days ago get's subtracted today, etc...
So we don't get all the potential traffic either.

I pay too much. The phone company learned that we had 3 computers connected to the DSL line via a wireless router, and began charging us as a small business. Freakin 3rd world...

Really, sometimes I think it's DanS idea.

It is stable though, Besides a broken modem which was quickly replaced (free), I think I've had about 5 or 6 hours of downtime over the 5 years.

I doubt it, since that would be a really easy way to circumvent their limits.

                          $44.95 / month

                          cable internet

                          3.0mbps down
                          256kbps up
                          3 email accounts
                          3mb personal web server space
                          no total traffic limit

For 98% of the year, it works. The other two percent, which would be this past weekend, not so hot.

The cable company provides the modem free as long as you're subscribing to cable internet...

You have to be subscribing to basic cable too, though.

Because their DSL service sucks, we had to have come out to fix something, and they saw the set up (which we left assebled because we had no idea it was a problem).
