The big problem is if your wife has a regular doc, she may wish to have that doc see things through.

I just don't relish the idea of moving with a 5 or 10 day old. If she CAN move in advance of the birth and you are happy with the medical care you can arrange in Ohio, I would move ahead of time
My wife doesn't really care about the doc, and I agree that moving after is going to be just as tough. I gots some convincing to do.

Cincinnati has nationally reknowned medical facilities. I am certain we can find something that would suit her needs.

Our doctor says she can fly up to 6 weeks before her due date. I would like to take her out there within the next few weeks and find a place to live. Then, we would drive out with dog and cat in tow... man, that's gonna suck.

Of course, as soon as I type that and send a quick email to the webmaster it starts working.

The job is Newtown, so I'd probably look around there (Eastern Cincinnati) or North eastern KY.

Looks pretty ritzy. 7 golf courses (3 CC's and 4 public courses) in a five-odd mile radius.

Don't know that area very well, although it looks like he could live in any kind of area he wants -- the city, the suburbs, a small town, or the country.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

What do you and your wife have in mind, if I can ask? I grew up around Columbus, so have a good idea about the type of area you're moving to.

What do you mean "in mind"? We know it's different; hot and muggy in the summer, cold and snowy in the winter... We would just like to have a place that doesn't cost half a million dollars and is falling into the ground. We want to be able to save for our kids college as well as spend money on it while it is getting to college. Good schools, good community activities, good health care, good cultural aminities.

I meant what kind of area in which you would like to live. Are you looking for a starter home in the suburbs, living large in the country, a hip urban townhouse, etc.

I didn't mean "what the hell were you thinking?!" That comes later.

Here's what $500,000 buys in Cincy (very quick search, I'm sure you can find something better for that price):

You'll want to go to the main home page - the particular page I linked to is for a script that will find open homes, not *all* homes. Just FYI.
