  • THIS IS NOT AMERICA
    - Single: This Is Not America
    - Album: Tonight (on the re-issue)
    - Soundtrack: Falcon And The Snowman
    - Compilation: The Singles Collection
    - Lyrics and music by David Bowie and Pat Metheny

    A little piece of you
    The little peace in me
    Will die
    For this is not america

    Blossom falls to bloom
    This season
    Promise not to stare
    Too long
For this is not a miracle

    There was a time
A storm that blew so pure
For this could be the biggest sky
    And I could have
    The faintest idea

    Snowman melting
    From the inside
    Falcon spirals
    to the ground
    So bloody red
    Tomorrows clouds

    A little piece of you
    The little piece in me
    Will die
    For this is not america

    There was a time
A wind that blew so young
For this could be the biggest sky
And I could have the faintest idea

This could be the biggest sky
    This could be a miracle
    This could be etc

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

If by "rules" you mean the informal way things are hadled, I would agree since no legislation is required. There is ample stuff in criminal codes and highway traffic legislation to charge protesters as it is . But its just like my speeder example. 2 km/hr over the limit and the police don't even blink, 10 and they are paying attention and 20 they pull you over every time.

People have very few absolute rights. This is of no suprise to me since I was the one stating that your right to free expression was limited by the rights of others.

BUt what term do you like to express the fact that I have the ability and expectation that I can leave this building how I want and when I want and that I am free to travel wherever I choose( subject always to laws of general application and to the rights of others)?

            To stray a little OT....

A motorist in Ont was ticketed for speeding on the 401. At trial he argued he was simply moving with the flow of traffic. Convicted.

He then got two friends with cars and they drove side by side on the 401 at the posted limit. Ticketed for obstructing traffic. Convicted.

If he had of gathered 200 friends he probably would have been okay.

              LOL

The first conviction I can see-- saying others are breaking the law is no excuse.

The second I have a tough time with. He drove exactly at the posted limit??? Thats a freaking catch-22 if ever there was one

                Delusion?

That is an unrealistic expectation. There are all sorts of circumstances where it is right and proper for such an ability to be curtailed.

Why is that unrealistic ( i said subject to laws of general application and the rights of others). I can't go on others property nor expect to freely drive at 200km/hr but why cannot I expect to freely leave and drive to British Columbia or Ontario or heck if I have the applicable immigration papers, to travel across the US

                  • One of the exceptions is for large gatherings that stop you driving your SUV on some streets.

More later. I'm in class right now and the students are looking at me strange. See... I too post at work.

                    • If people are protesting and you drive thought then with than SUV you are breaking the law more than they are. Recklessing endanger the public with than lethal weapon, you SUV can be classical as than lethal weapon since if you hit or run overpeople can maine or kill them. Than it you kill one person while doing so you can be charge with murder. Than man was put on death row for driveing his car thought a political rally of than party he didnot like.
