Ouch... Sebrenica is sort of a national trauma in the Netherlands. It was Dutch troops that were supposed to protect the citizens of Srebrenica. 8000 people executed and our guys assisted Mladic with getting them on the busses that would take them to...
did anyone in the Dutch army get disciplined over that?

Few years ago the Dutch conducted an enquiry into the Srebrenica events and the entire government cabinet symbolically resigned afterwards.

There is a great BBC documentary about it, I recommend it.

But it's not the Dutch fault really, they maybe could have done more, but the whole UN structure was incompetent and (350?) Dutch soldiers alone couldn't do much on their own.

there's been examples in the past of UN commanders bluffing it out, but it takes a special kind of officer

One British commander stopped Croats killing Serbs and vice versa by having the sheer balls to drive around the countryside intervening and telling them off

it was inspirational, I remember it well

Sure. Some French officer bluffed with regards to the enclaves in Bosnia too, I forgot which, I'll look it up.

Too bad but sometimes words are not enough

Something about the UN forces not wanting to give permission for airstrikes against the Serb forces iirc.
