  • Cool stuff

The Xbox 360, despite the name, is managing to intrigue me more and more. Way more than the PS3, which has managed to generate zero interest from me.

Of course, the only reason we have a PS2 now is that it (at the time when we bought it) was the only home system with DDR games on it.

        • All of the sounds in PGR3 are recorded from the real cars themselves (just like all of the 3D model data comes from the CAD data from the manufacturers).

          • Seems Xbox plans to gain market share in Japan are not working very well. According to a survey only 2% said the 360 was the most appealing, while ps3 got 60%, and 30% still undecided.

              • I don't know if they're racist, but one thing is for sure, they don't care much for Western games. Otoh, they do love our music, our movies, our clothing, iPods, etc. Why is the japanese market so important anyway?

                • And Western sports.. baseball and soccer are the two biggest sports there.

The Japanese market is now the smaller of the 3 major markets (NA, Europe, then Japan). NA and Europe are both growing much, much faster than Japan, which basically has a saturated market.

                    • I read somewhere that some Japanese game developpers, and they're still a major creative force, will make a game for a console if and only if they think it will sell big in Japan.

Even though the Xbox 360 will be an underdog in Japan, I think it will do a lot better than the first Xbox.

                      • Am I correct in my recollection that the PS3 is going to be a lot larger than the XBox 360? If so, then we'll just see who does well in the Japanese market...
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                          • Dan the PS3 is 13.5" x 3.25" and the Xbox360 10.25" x 2.5". The characters in those screenshots look rigid and unpolished, but the backgrounds look nice.

                            • Yeah, you know, the pictures are pretty nice, but nothing specacular. They overdid the gloss, for one thing.
