    1. You believe him and offer sage advice, but it isn't true and no-one is harmed.

    2. You don't believe him and you **** on him and it is true, in which case you're really ****ing someone up.

I actually agree with you. Anyone that takes anything EvC says at face value needs their head examined.

He didn't do it, but unfortunately his undocumented anxiety disorder allowed the police to coerce him into sign a written confession. They told him they had video evidence (which they didn't show to him) that fingered him, he was afraid that they might try to concoct more evidence, and they said if he signed the confession he'd get a lesser sentence.

He was pleading not guilty, last I heard, but I haven't heard anything more today... this all happened yesterday afternoon .

I couldn't get him bail (set at 4000 dollars) or even a bailbondsmen (600 dollars).. so he is stuck there until his dirt poor family can use the deed to their house to get him out on bail.

I don't know if any of you lawyers here can help me out with some information. What do you think will happen, whats the max sentence, please god tell me no jail time?

We Live in Asheville North Carolina, Buncombe County, he has been arrested and is in Hendersonville (Henderson County) North Carolina Detention facility.
Disclaimer: this is not legal advice

This makes me glad that I don't practice in NC-the law is incredibly bloated and a chore to decipher.

From what I can tell, larceny >1000 is an H felony. If his first offence, then I think that would be 3-8 months. I doubt there's mandatory time there, but I don't know.

Is he eligible for a public defender? I'm not sure what NC or Henderson County has, an agency or contracts through the courts. (And hopefully they are decent, its rather hit or miss, unfortunately) Either way, hopefully they can dig up some psych exam stuff on your b/f to work against the confession.

Good luck. Its far to early in this to panic. Probably what will happen is that he will have an attorney appointed for him, there will be a bond review hearing that will lower or eliminate the bond (really depends on jail overcrowding), and then eventually a trial date will be set. The confession can hopefully be suppressed, but hard to say what the evidence and facts are about that.

            chin up!

On the contrary, you unbelievable fool. When someone spends an inordinate length of time establishing an identity as a cartoon lunatic, through unbelievable fantasy scenarios designed to invite hilarity, which it receives as intended, why should those people who supplied the intended hilarity feel guilty about supplying it (as intended by the instigator) when the instigator suddenly (and years later) announces "Oh, I really am ill"?

Now had I actually known he was ill, but made fun of him? That's sociopathic. So cancel your presumed occupation of the moral high ground and save it for someone who needs it. Not someone who has just wished him luck. You berk.

This isn't the first time he has said that he is ill, he has mentioned seeing psychologists. But even without that, considering the content of his posts if you didn't suspect mental illness, then your not only nasty, you're very stupid as well.

Not someone who has just wished him luck.
Yes, you did that. You also told him you didn't feel bad about taunting him earlier. That's a malicious thing to do, to say to someone who you have mistreated that you don't have any remorse or feel bad about at all.

So cancel your presumed occupation of the moral high ground and save it for someone who needs it.
To the contrary, Laz, I don't claim the moral highground. I do bad things too. We all do bad things. But if it comes to my attention that I have done something wrong, I feel guilty, I feel bad about it, whether or not I had inteded to do it.

For instance, if I were to go walking and accidently bump into an elderly man on a cane, and I knocked him down, I'd feel bad about it, as would nearly everyone. I might not have meant to bump into him, I might not have seen the Cane, but I'd still have hurt someone and I'd feel bad about it.

Feeling bad about bad things you have done, i.e. having a conscience, it what seperates normal people from sociopaths.

Thorn, I can't think of any advice that would be as good, or better than, some of the advice already posted by others.

All I can do is wish you well.

Convince me that I should feel guilty about poking fun at his extraordinary attempts to argue with one of his own DL's at the time, and I'll concede the point happily. Until then, I feel no guilt about it.

To take the example of the man you posted, and let's say he's blind- to be accurate, the man would have to be wearing a neon sandwich-board reading "I'm not really blind SUCKAH! AHA! You fell for my dark glasses act like the sap you are! OWNED!!!"

Then, some years later, revealing "Actually I am blind". Would I feel guilty about poking fun at the time? Nope, because he'd actively provoked it. So go parade your bleeding heart elsewhere. You've always been waaaaaay too quick to condemn without giving the matter much thought, haven't you?

You know that your harrasment of him wasn't limited to the Emperor Craetseazar incident.

No, that analogy doesn't work at all. EVC never gave any such indidcation that he wasn't mentally ill. In fact, stuff such as the EVC/EC flame war, and everything about his persona back then should have made it obvious to anyone that posts coming from him were the product of illness.

Straw poll- how many veteran posters here feel guilty for laughing at EvC's "Emperor Craetsezer" (or whoever it was) routine?
It's a little more then laughing at a routine though, isn't it? It's more like a sucsession of vitroilic insults and mocking throughout his time on the forum.

Anyway, so it seems you can't justify your own behavior on your own, so you need to try to get other people to come in and say they felt similarly? Pathetic.
