I'm surprised by very northern nevada. What the hell is up there? I admit I have yet to travel that far north. I was under the impression there wasn't much human life up there, much less hispanic life. If there is little population, what jobs could there possibly be?

Huh, I'm amazed by Washington state and far eastern Oregon.

That's from 2000. There was an article in last weeks Mercury that showed current levels. You'd be surprise at the increase in some states/areas.

And I don't know about these things more than that, but yeah, if he survives -> prison -> story goes forward -> not fun. Especially if he loses a leg for it, or gets a nasty limp. I guess we know how he gets his nickname.

IT's same with guns, like the story says. It doesn't matter if you know how to point the gun and pull the trigger. I mean, that's a lot already, but if you're in self defense situation, and it come quickly perhaps, you have to be able to take it out and shoot. It's not that simple, you have to practice that one too. It's high stress situation, adrenaline flowing, you don't want to start choking when it's time to dance, and if you turn into hypermaniac, you'll lose your gas soon so basically this means that no matter what happens, unless you're a cool professional or something, the mistakes you make will multiply themselves. You are in a state out of normal, either hindering you or not, but it means that you need to have learned it good like second nature, or you won't do anything, or if you do, you do it wrong which can cost you.

Don't think you'll be rational if you get jumped or something, you might not be. It's like fighting tired, you can have awesome technique, but once you're dead tired from adrenaline rushes and all that, in matter of less than a minute maybe, you will be sloppy and nothing works and you end up only beating yourself. That's why pro fighters train when they are tired. Some of them just get tired first and then start fighting in training sessions. That's what makes the difference.

So you want to defend yourself, even if you crap your pants and gas out and your head is ringing without no one making the first move yet. You can't over analyze it then. YOu either have it or you don't have it. This is where it pays off, or doesn't.

With his leg blown off at the thigh, he'll be giving a whole new meaning to "hip hop" - it's not exactly helpful to one's survival to be crippled up in prison, at least in the medium security or higher prisons he'd be looking at (if he lives) for multiple felonies involving a firearm.

I disagree. Most switchblades have notoriously weakly attached blades, they're thin and very poor for slashing. They also tend to have poor grips (too small and often slick) and little or no guard. What they are decent at is murder, as they can be easily concealed and are only effective at stabbing which is the type of attack most likely to be fatal.
