I understand the environmental impact of meat, but there's no reason to completely do away with it. You can cut the environmental impact by 90% by eating small amounts of meat every couple of days instead of a big piece at every meal.

As for the other 10%, there are more easier ways to save the world.

I try to eat as little meat as possible for mostly moral reasons.

Unless you are poor/uneducated , eating meat is unnecessary.

Vegetarians are vegetarians because they're meat heads.

          That said, how about taters?

Sorry, thats not what I meant

By educated I mean knowing you need protein and where to get it from veggie sources,

and not being in poverty so you are free to make the choice to be veggie without it reducing your quality of life and life expectancy

I am sure for lots of people in the world meat is a necessary part of their diet, but for the rest of us in the first world it is a choice we have the freedom to make

Yes. It's pretty common for meat to cause sickness whens omeone has been vegetarian for a long period of time. It has happened to me, once, when I unknowingly ate somethign with meat in it. And when my sister stoped beign vegetarian (she found out that she couldn't eat glouten, which makes a vegetarian diet just too complex) she had to very slowly progress to eating meat again, because it would often make her sick.

Yes, but this is to make a statement...which is:
I disagree with the exploitation of animals nowadays. I don't have nothing against eating meat per se, if it's done properly and if the animals have not needlessly suffered when being killed, if they have lived in okay conditions etc. The thing is that this is not possible if everybody wants to eat large quantities of meat. It seems to me that meat is just like other garbage you buy in a supermarket... you throw it into a pan and there it is. There is no respect for animals, and certainly no respect for a balanced environment. That's also due to the fact that there are way too many humans on this planet... Like many other things we take for granted, few people actually think about this

Anyway I would be a hypocrit if I ate small amounts of meat and protested against the way meat is being processed these days.

I was thinking about cutting back on the amount of meat I ate but I don't get through that much. I mainly consume chicken, and occasionally pork or beef...but bollocks to it, I like meat

He meant ( at least I would have ) uneducated in the finer vegetarian culinary arts . Poor , I don't know . Meat is much more expensive than vegetables are in India .

As for myself , I am vegetarian , not for moral reasons ( there really aren't any , when it comes to this issue ) , but because I'm fond of my health .

Of course , the fact the India has a vegetarian tradition which has evolved over thousands of years helps in no small measure .
