I don't think people should be forced to pay for the privilege if they don't wish to.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

You must have missed the "in their right mind" part.

IIRC, it's only for new construction.

Which is why existing homes aren't forced to have them.

It's not going in every home, only new ones. Are you really gonna quibble over the few doxen to few hundred pounds it's gonna add to your final price tag, especially since you're going to pay for it over 20-30 years?

If it costs only a couple of hundred pounds, it is economical.

They can either not buy a new-build house, or request for the fittings to be altered at purchase. No builder in the world would risk losing a sale over changing a set of £50 taps.

The attitude behind this question helps explain why you have constant money problems.

                              Think about it.

JohnT, if it is for new builds, the attitude is perfectly acceptable.
