In terms of self-defense, I highly reccomend getting yourself either pepper spray or some other non-lethal self defense method such as a taser. A knife fight isn't something you want to get involved in, the price of losing is death, and if you win, you can't be sure that you won't get prosecuted.
Pepper Spray and Tasers have the advantage that they leave no permanent damage, removing the threat from a lawsuit. They can also be used at a distance to get at them before they get at you. Pepper spray has the advantage of being cheaper. But having either one of those weapons would greatly increase your chances of surviving another attack without giving you the risk of a lawsuit or prosecution."I'm moving to the Left" - Lancer

che, yeah, the more I think about it the less he has to worry about. He turned in the knife the guy attacked him with. If the guy dies they can take prints to validate his story. Any state will allow you to fight for your life. You get attacked by a knife wielding nut, and live, you won't face legal problems.Long time member @ Apolyton
