    • Yeah... well I think the rest of Preston will have something to say if they become "Preston". They split up in the 1900s...

        • And now the President of UEFA is backing Liverpool.

Also thought this was pretty funny:

Manchester United have been warned by major sponsors Nike that a continued lack of success could cost them dear.

The sportswear manufacturers began a 13-year kit deal with the Red Devils in August 2002 worth up to £303million to the Old Trafford club.

However, it is reported that a get-out clause will allow Nike to decide in July next year whether to continue that agreement past the 2007-08 season.

            • Just a thought for UEFA. They should change the Champions League qualifying rules so that the winners automatically get one of the places allocated to their country.

That would not upset anyone outside England for 2005/06 and stuff the FA (who deserve whatever bad happens to them anyway).

He's been backing them for a month or so... nothing new.

He was backing them before they won it, he wouldnt have had to do anything if they hadnt won it. Theres a clear commitment from some people at UEFA to try and fix this stupid rule now.

Plus if Liverpool get a place, Fenerbahce might be kicked

Face facts Imran, were going to be in it. Even MikeH must be reading the papers, we have the majority of the UEFA committee on our side. One of the few who isn't is the public relations guy, thats why these statements about not changing the rules this year keep coming out, the guy is just a minor desk jockey though.

I was confident last week, I'm even more confident now.

Rather gutting for the club and fans who came in fourth, don'tcha think?

I read something about the play-offs. I thought this issue was dead. Boring for anyone who isn't a whinging Liverpool fan.
