Because they're a single story... one of the LOTR films by itself is incomplete without the others. The same cannot be said for the Star Trek films (and likely the SW films, though there is an overarching story arc for each of the trilogies (and the series as a whole, of course.))Comment

Another "suggestion" - don't nominate movies that are very similar to another nominee. For ex., if you see 2001 and think "Yeah, Kubrick! Let's nominate Clockwork!"... don't do it. That's just sad.
