I am hardly known for my dislike for the french: actually, I like their country very much. But this is very weird, and sounds like a bone thrown to the french. I don't think that this fooled anyone as to the impact of France in the war.

You DO know that they also got an occupation zone in Germany, a far bigger bone than the zone in Austria? And a zone in Berlin? And that well into the '80s, at least, the French forces in Germany were deployed in the old French occupation zone (as US forces were in the old US zone, and Brits and Canadians in the old UK zone)?

Paris colours are Bllue and Red (I think it's very old), and the white in-between symbolizes the monarchy.
