Wow, you know you're a really special city when your claim to fame is "not as nasty as Detroit".

Edit: Why is it so much fun to hate on Toronto?

      Kontiki got it right earlier:

Plus the constant self aggrandizement is annoying. The self comparisons to New York (when really, it's maybe 3/4 the city Chicago is, if that) are pitiful.
It is the constant effort to try and make people believe it is a better city than it is that annoys me. Anyone who has been there for any length of time knows the truth.

Yeah, I agree. As an Ottawa resident, I meet tons of Torontonians who come up here to visit and do nothing but but brag about how much better Toronto is. And its never anything substantial, just "we're bigger, we're bigger!11!!".

I think thats the Toronto mindset, bigger is better. Like when a few years ago they decided "Hmmm... 500,000 people isn't big enough. Let' fool around with these lines on the map and make our city 2.5 million overnight. Horray... now we make the top 10 list in North America."

Its still just a city of half a million at heart.

How important is it to try to speak French while in Quebec?
Not very important. In Montreal, pretty much everyone speaks english. In Quebec city about 50% of the people speak english. On the otherhand, the other 50% you probably wont have to talk to.

Just PM me when you ready.

          Spec.
