No... calls don't mean urgency... and in many cases, what others think is important isn't something I would consider important

cell phones are nice enough to show you missed calls, and they have voice mail.

There is never a need to answer a cell phone.

An interesting philosophy. Maybe I should just use the cell phone as an answering machine and not waste my time and money by calling on it .

I get/send on average 7-15 text messages a day. I get/make an actual phone call probably twice a month. They're rare enough to mean something needs addressing.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

If the purpose of the call is to inform you of something non-urgent, a message is fine. If it's urgent, or if a response is needed, it isn't.
How did you ever get by without one before you had cell phones.

It's an insult to answer cell phones on dates and especially during sex.

The best solution, obviously, is to turn your mobile's sound off during sex or put if far away where you can't hear it - you won't be tempted to answer.

How many of you guys go on dates where a woman interrupts the date to gab on a phone from an incoming phone call? I wouldn't put up with it, (actually I probably would- because I'm desperate ).

I really wouldn't know, as I haven't been on an actual date since before cell phones became popular.

But when a woman is more interested to talking whoever is on the cell phone, than you. Then there's a problem.

The same can be said about sex. How do you think your girlfriend will feel if you interrupt her to take a call?

I wouldn't even respond to a fire/smoke alarm during sex. As I don't know when the next time I'll be able to have sex will be. .

Do people actually still use their phones to make phone calls? I use mine mainly for text messages and taking photos. Phoning is so quaint.

text messages are so lame. Why message when you can just call the person?

It kills me they keep putting all these PDA functions on cell phones when they still can't perfect their intended use. Making phone calls. You still get bad connections everywhere you go.

Cause texting avoids the very problem this thread is about. Texting is leaving someone a message for them to get back to.

It should be noted I don't have a cell phone either except for the cell phone my job issue me. That's for work related calls only (though I told my friends/family they can call that number in an emergency)

KrazyHorse must be pretty pathetic in bed if a woman talked on the phone while they did it.
