    • Its sure looks fugly. It could be a prototype, but its definitely not the final design. The cord is a dead giveaway. And it doesn't seem you can press those buttons.

In other news, Gates said the Xbox 360 will have an interface similar to Windows XP Media center edition, with access to pictures, movies, tv...

      • Where are the black and white buttons on that?

        • They have been replaced by shoulder buttons.

          • Man, that prototype controller does look ugly... here is hoping for multiple colors!

            • It seems these photos were taken with a cellphone... It looks more and more legit. It looks better than the prototype imo. It still won't win a design contest, mind you. Notice the USB camera on the right.

              • A close-up of the gamepad. I actually prefer the new logo. Notice the connectors for the headphones on the bottom. Edit: it seems the logo is actually a button.

The wireless controller is white to compliment the new system and includes an X button in the place of the old Xbox logo. The button is said to let users access Xbox Live functions, like buddy lists and chat sessions.

                      • MS has made all of the concessions before to make inroads into the marketplace. It's looking to make money this time.
If an XBOX2 costs too much people will not buy it.

I guarantee you this. No matter how awesome it is--if MS makes too much money off each sale, it will not be sold.

Besides, even after the loss on the consoles, didn't MS make money overall off the original XBOX plus controllers, cards, games, etc.?

At least it isn't as big as the old XBOX. Flippin huge.

What are we looking at for the next Nintendo and Sony consoles? What is this ugly boy's competition going to be?

                        P. S. I bet you the real XBOX2 is totally different from all this that's leaked. Microsoft is too evil to have a genuine lossage of information.

We know next to nothing about the Nintendo. We know a bit more about the PS3. Nvidia will design the GPU and it will have about the same horsepower as the one found in the Xbox 360, which is designed by ATI. However, the Cell, the PS3's CPU, is reportedly 3x faster than the one found in the Xbox 360. So, this time around, the PS3 will actually be more powerful than the Xbox 360.

I doubt it. These photos were taken at the MTV party where they unvealed the Xbox 360. Yes, they already taped it.

I agree, its doesn't look too bad. It looks better than the prototype. I like the black dvd tray and they improved the power button.

It's much more complicated than that.

The Nvidia GPU will likely not be the same kind of GPU as the ATI one in the Xbox. In fact, it may be mostly a raster chip with anti-aliasing abiliites...the whole point of the Cell chip in the PS3 was insane parallel vectoring performance...exactly the same kind of performance needed for graphics.

The Cell itself is overrated. It's very useful for things like graphics processing and some types of physics processing, but not very useful for general game code. Game code is very logic-oriented...and the Cell can't do much of anything in "branching" code...it works by divying up the work into very small, independent packets and sending them out to the cells. If you're doing something where one packet immediately depends on the next (very common in game programming), you can't do this in parallel.

The MS (and presumably Nintendo) CPUs are much more balanced.

The "3x powerful" thing comes from theoretical numbers that will never be achieved. Look at it this way: the PS2 is ~4x powerful than the Xbox using the same method of measurement.

                              • I see. But I'm certain Sony will use that line. "The PS3 will be 3 X more powerful than the Xbox 360. So why settle for less? Wait for the PS3!"
