  • US to arbitrarily rape Canada to the tune of $250 million

    geoswan:
In a test of President Bush's Ballistic Missile Defense scheme, CTV is reporting that the US Space Command is planning to launch a Titan missile that will pass over the Hibernia oil field, off the coast of Newfoundland. The missile's booster will land within something like 25 kilometers of Newfoundland oil platforms. Premier Danny Williams plans to shut down and evacuate the platforms, prior to the launch, which may cost as much as $250,000,000.

The test was delayed last week, and some reports said that the delay was due to sensitivity to Canadian concerns. However this is incorrect.

A television report quoted an American military spokesman claiming the chance of debris striking an oil platform is "one in a trillion".

To put the matter in perspective, the AdScam storm in a bucket is over $250 million Canadian.

WTF can we do? I can't think of anything short of arresting every American in this country and executing them one by one until Bush is deposed, and that seems a tad unreasonable. Communal punishment and all.

    ****.

Put a surcharge of 1$ a barrel on all oil exports to the US. In 4 months we'll have collected that 250 million back.

I never knew that Canada's government was filled with such retards. Did we export them?

Don't worry, our missiles are just as reliable as our cars and our electronics.

Well I could have guessed. But I could not have known for certain... Until today.

Yeah, I really trust people who claim that the chances of a collision are "one in a trillion". From what I can see of the intended flight path, the chances of a collision are more like 1 in 10000 to 1 in 20000 or so. It's unacceptable to keep hundreds of people working in that situation.

And BTW it's private companies pulling their people out. Our government didn't tell them they had to go; they decided themselves that the risk was unacceptable.

As far as I know, not a single person in the uninvolved public has been hurt from debris from an American suborbital/orbital rocket in the history of post-war rocketry.
