Yep, don't cause waves while your stuff is still in their house. I've heard horror sotries about pissed off landlords/roommates. Next do what I did and only live with people the same general age as you because it saves a lot of hassles. Once I rented a room from this 40 year old black divorcee with a five year old wo loved to scream at 5am and was still poopng his pants. She'd go snooping in my room and complain if I drank beer in my own room ("because I have a small child") which is fair enough but she should have mentioned that in the lease. Finally she became a born again Christian and went totally psycho on me complaining about the "pagan" things I had in my room. I had a few D&D books and a Buddha statue I had bought in Thailand. :rolleys:
The final straw was she told me to get rid of my wine collection. My girlfriend at the time and I loved to spend vacations traveling the California coast and going wine tasting at the hundreds of small wineries whose products you couldn't find at the store. Thus I had a decent sized collection of wines I was aging and when she became born again she decided alcohol was the devil's juice and told me either the wine collection (stored neatly in a wine rack I had bought) was gone by the weekend (it was thursday) or I had to be out by Sunday. My lease said she had to give 30 days notice and I pointed that out but she started screaming and saying she'd throw all my things out and change the locks so I just packed my stuff and left.
I know I could have sued her and won but I just couldn't be bothered. I just filled a report with the campus housing authority and she was no longer allowed to advertise to students through the campus housing authority's web site. Take my advice and room with people your own age.
