Yeah, that was horrible, as opposed to the standard "reverse the polarity" approach generally used in TNG.

yeah they should always have their equipment with the polarity reversed. Who designed this stuff?

But the best is that catapulting around the Sun will somehow send someone back in time, and catapulting back round the other way will return them to when they came from. Who would have ever guessed?

That's the fourth movie, isn't it? They slingshot in the Bird of Prey back to the 20th century?

hmm, so what happens if we put a big engine on the earth. Would we be able to accelerate and catapult around the sun? It would be great if we could send the entire planet back in time.

it was also in an episode of the old/original series.

It's the one when they go to Save the Whales, whichever number that is.

Ah, but you have to swing by the sun reeeally close. And shields. You need shields. And doesn't it require warpspeed?

Put a big engine on Earth. What's least possible here? Y'got shields big enough for the whole planet? And even with shields, the planet would be fried. Forget save the whales. What about global warming? And don't even think about sending the whole planet to warp speed. She canna take much more o' this, Cap'n! Oh, and what about the disturbance in the gravitational force on the other planets?

It's easy. we use replicators to replicate enough dilithium cyrstals and warp engines, and shield generators.

Replicate dilithium. Yeeeahhh... Structural Integrity Field too?
