The last one was bizarre but we're back in Europe in 2010. You won't get such a high European team attrition rate in the early rounds.

Everyone knows England are the favourites.

Wow... world cup next summer! Already! I'm excited.

Seriously though, we'll have one of the best squads at next years world cup... but there will be a few other great teams/squads there. Whether we can translate that into a win I have no idea.

I hope that qualifying sees some more Eastern European teams in the tourney. It'd be interesting having them in it.

It is interesting but only if they are any good.

Ukraine look good for an automatic place Serbia have a shot too....

Problem is the traditional countries seem a lot better. Whatever, let's hope there are fewer boring Scandinavian teams. (I'm looking at you Norway!)

Well some of them are fairly decent, like Ukraine, Serbia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, etc. And it'd be nice to see players like Shevchenko on football's biggest stage.

Btw, who's bright idea was it to put Greece and Turkey in the same qualifying pool? I realize they've become nicer, but, well, you know...

We are with the Czechs for the third time in a row (EC qualifiers, EC2004, and WC qualifiers), so Dutch qualification is questionable once again

Last time I think we had Yugoslavia (Now Serbia and Montenegro), Bosnia and Croatia all in the same group. Bosnia and Serbia & Montenegro are in the same group again this time.

Btw, how are greece's qualification campaign going on? I still can't believe they won Euro2004.

They are second in the group at the moment but it's all very close.
