Firstly the attack on Republicans in the OP is a bit off. Most of the republicans on the panel were quite obviously only interested in using the bully pulpit, and the Dems were far more viscious, some calling for immediate legislation.

Secondly, it really doesn't take that much time out of the Govt. to yell at baseball for a day; because there are more important things doesn't mean that you shouldn't also take care of the lesser important things, especially if they are easier to accomplish.

Last but certainly not least - Baseball is far superior to Football.

Since this thread got jacked, I'm ignoring Diss and getting it back on topic.

American Football and Baseball are sporting ghettoes- they aren't that big on a global basis. The question is- do you want them to be real, global sports? Featured in the Olympics and all that?

If you do, the drugs have to go.

We don't really care. Baseball has a decent foreign following, football has a small but growing global following. However, it doesn't matter to me whether those sports ever become as big internationally as soccer. I'd rather watch a pre-season NFL game than an Olympic competition. Olympics .

Congress is making noises about shoving the Olympic standard down thier throats.

Yes it does rather presuppose you know what cuisine minceur is, to get the joke. My bad.
