For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

    • It never ceases to amaze me the number and variety of Christians who are so certain their brand is The One True Christianity (TM) and others are not "real Christians". I guess the same goes for other religions as well, but we don't see it as much here in North America.

That describes Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. My denomination (Southern Baptist), however, doesn't hold to this belief.

If you search for 'true christians' on Google, you'll find a lot of good information on this subject. Here is one good article, however:

Nice ad hominum, but you're the one who brought up your beliefs that are alien to Christianity. The stuff you mentioned isn't part of the original Chrisitan beliefs.

              You.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

True christians are a subset of the set of all Christians. However, as all Christians believe they are part of the set of true Christians and many believe that other Christians are not, what you have is a zillion little subsets of Christians all calling themselves "true Christians."

All Christians are true Christians, but only American Protestant fundimentalists are "True" Christians.

Except, of course, where you've repetedly stated in this very thread that they're not true Christians.

The doctrine of JW's and Mormons is not true because it doesn't hold to the original Orthodox Christian teachings, but when it all comes down to it it's the individual that matters.

Southern Baptists do not believe that Christ will judge people by their denomination before going to heaven or hell. What will matter is the individual.

Just for reference, such denominations as Baptists, Nazarenes, Methodists, Pentecostals, Messianic Judaism among many others are legitimate denominations that do hold to original Orthodox teachings.

Actually I think Jehovah Witnesses speak for most christians quite accurately, based on my own personal perspective and what I see in this world today.

No, it hasn't. By your own definition, you are not a true Christian. You are every bit as much a deviant as the Mormons and JWs. It was invented in the 19th Century. I'm more of a true Christian than you.
