I heard that the Russians wanted him alive but that one of his bodyguards shot him by mistake

      wtf
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

        $50 million last I heard.

Did you folks see the picture of that guy's body? He has total "raccoon eyes" which usually mean he was shot in the head.

          Oerdin - Another Kennedy quote.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

at the BBC article. While alive, he hypocritically constantly criticized Russian mil. actions a la Yasser Arafat while fundraising money for his terror strikes by drug smuggling and prostitution rings... but now BBC is playing him up as some sort of peace-preaching hero.

                EDIT:
                $50 million last I heard.
                25M US$, check the link:

The Rewards For Justice Program, United States Department of State, is offering a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to the apprehension or conviction of Usama Bin Laden. An additional $2 million is being offered through a program developed and funded by the Airline Pilots Association and the Air Transport Association.

yeah but you have to wonder.. get the 50 million, and then be dead later on. Worth it? Nah.. anonymous tip giving him away would work, but I wouldn't go there and claim the credit. ohh but the lion and tinman will protect you!

Will someone please remind me why Chechnya is so incredibly important that Russia can't just let it go? I mean, really...

well I guess they can't let it go now because if they go away, terrorists will keep on striking Russia in their own field, no doubt. They would have to leave in a way where they would have no ties or any kind of reach there anymore and then MAYBE it would be settled. However I don't know why they want to keep their influence in that region, but there must be a reason because they do.

That link is out of date. They upped it two months ago while that link is from Dec, 2001.

It was boosted at the end of January.

Sure, and the fact that he himself said he was involved in planning of both Nord Ost and Beslan, sure makes him a great negotiator and sure shows how unbiased and honest your media is.

Now I don't see any end to the war.
You can find war in Iraq. In Chechnya you can find Russian Spetcnaz killing f*cking terrorists like Maskhadov.
