Ah Powerline, which recently made up out of thin air possible Democratic evil ploys and proceeded to get outraged by them, even though they had just concocted the ideas themselves!

I'm not a big fan of Powerline, as they're too knee-jerk Republican for me. They are at least responsible, though, eschewing inflammatory rhetoric and correcting errors when they make them.

Kos didn't say "**** 'em." More proof you parrot views from rightwing nut sites.

And Kos subsequently retracted what he had said and acknowledged it was done in a moment of emotional hotheadedness. Oh, that moonbat!

and Instapundit and Powerling are sane?!

That just solidifies your position as a rightie looney.

Reference above where Powerline completely fabricated a "possible" Democratic tactic and then proceeded to work into a huge frothing lather over it, asking "how low will Democrats sink?" That's sane blogging to you?

What Kos had said about it:

There's been much ado about my indifference to the Mercenary deaths in Falluja a couple days ago. I wrote in some diary comments somewhere that "I felt nothing" and "screw them".

My language was harsh, and, in reality, not true. Fact is, I did feel something. That's why I was so angry.

I was angry that five soldiers -- the real heroes in my mind -- were killed the same day and got far lower billing in the newscasts. I was angry that 51 American soldiers paid the ultimate price for Bush's folly in Iraq in March alone. I was angry that these mercenaries make more in a day than our brave men and women in uniform make in an entire month. I was angry that the US is funding private armies, paying them $30,000 per soldier, per month, while the Bush administration tries to cut our soldiers' hazard pay. I was angry that these mercenaries would leave their wives and children behind to enter a war zone on their own violition.

          So I struck back.

Unlike the vast majority of people in this country, I actually grew up in a war zone. I witnessed communist guerillas execute students accused of being government collaborators. I was 8 years old, and I remember stepping over a dead body, warm blood flowing from a fresh wound. Dodging bullets while at market. I lived in the midsts of hate the likes of which most of you will never understand (Clinton and Bush hatred is nothing compared to that generated when people kill each other for politics or race or nationality). There's no way I could ever describe the ways this experience colors my worldview.

Back to Iraq, our men and women in uniform are there under orders, trying to make the best of an impossible situation. The war is not their fault, and I will always defend their honor and bravery to the end of my days. But the mercenary is a whole different deal. They willingly enter a war zone, and do so because of the paycheck. They're not there for humanitarian reasons (I doubt they'd donate half their paycheck to the Red Cross or whatever). They're there because the money is DAMN good. They answer to no one except their CEO. They are dangerous, hence international efforts (however fruitless they may be) to ban their use.

So not only was I wrong to say I felt nothing over their deaths, I was lying. I felt way too much. Nobody deserves to die. But in the greater scheme of things, there are a lot of greater tragedies going on in Iraq (51 last month, plus countless civilians and Iraqi police). That those tragedies are essentially ignored these days is, ultimately, the greatest tragedy of all.

Daily Kos is a progressive news site that fights for democracy by giving our audience information and resources to win elections and impact government. Our coverage is assiduously factual, ethical, and unapologetically liberal. We amplify what we think is important, with the proper context—not just what is happening, but how it's happening and why people should care. We give you news you can do something about.

Yep, he sure is a left-wing equivalent to a fascist.

How can anyone think Instapundit is anything but reasonable and sober?

Got a link? I never saw it; as I said, I don't really like Powerline.

Hopefully it will be as insane and unnecessary as Kos's coverage of the Jeff Gannon "story"!

How about their recent attempt to smear Democrats with a baseless assertion that they were in bed with Ward Churchill, because a group of college Democrats participated in a free speech rally at a campus where he was making an appearance?

                Yes, sober and reasonable.

I especially liked Instapundit's link to a recent Kos thread. One of the new Kos contributors (Armando or something like that) wrote a diary condemning Instapundit for saying that the left is supportive of Ward Churchill. Then Armando had to spend all his time in the comments telling Kos readers to stop supporting Ward Churchill so that his point would stand...

Anyway, let's just agree to disagree, ok? If you really think Instapundit is extremist and Kos is not, then we really have no common ground to meet at. Cest la vie. I hope you all enjoy your time in the wilderness...

                  edit: http://instapundit.com/archives/021491.php

                  God, so much pwnage...

                  edit 2:
In a slightly disjointed, poorly written essay for Counterpunch, a leftwing Web newsletter, Emma Perez suggests criticism of Churchill is a "neo-con test case for academic purges." In other words, Churchill is under siege from a vast rightwing conspiracy. . . .

That's what I'm talking about, Ramo...

What does Counterpunch (not exactly a mainstream lefty site, BTW) have to do with this?

Instapundit doesn't have comments, while Daily Kos does. I'm sure that if Instapundit did have comments, you'd find just as bat****ty opinions in the comments of other so-called "reasonable" righty blogs. Also, I'm sure that the Ward Churchill thread attracted folks who give a **** about Ward Churchill, disproportionately.

The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany was a fascist party, just like the Fascists (who came first, and thus lent their name to the entire phenomenon). The only significant difference between the Nazis and that Fascists was the extreme racism of the Nazis. Otherwise, their programmes were identical.

I don't know, but most of the CP stuff is quite well written, apart from the translated material from other sources.

Anyway, CP is too middle of the road.

Its so cute having Republicans complain about the democrats trying to keep judicial nominees from being voted on. Because under Clinton Republicans would never think of doing such a horrible horrible nasty thing. Oh the nerve of those rascally democrats
