this is the opposite of discrimination.

I don't think you can discriminate against the dominate race. Note: i'm not saying whites are superior by the use of the word dominate, you know what I mean when I use the word that way. It means whites have the clear advantage because of the way society is set up.

and don't get me wrong. I want to see an end to affirmitive action. I'd like to see a world where we don't need such silly things as affirmitive action. We are getting very close now, not much farther to go.

and I'm willing to admit I'm wrong on this. it is possible we have racial equality now. I'm not so sure though. I'm just going by the word of those who are discriminated against. They still say there's discrimination in this country, I'll take their word for it.... for now.

so you are saying there is racial equality in the U.S. and Canada?

actually I can't vouch for Canada, and I'm just going by what the minorities say in the U.S.

Discrimination is defined as "Treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit." Go ahead and argue that it's justified discrimination, but call a spade a spade.

It's just not politically correct for white people to remove affirmitive action.

There I said it. Are you all happy now?

The minorities should be the one to say they don't need it.

How are we, as white people able to determine accurately if they are being held back because of their race?

And farmers should be the one to say they don't need farm subsidies.

so you are saying there is racial equality in the U.S. and Canada?

I'm saying your comment about discrimination not being applicable to "dominant races" is BS. If I am not allowed to get on a bus based solely on my sex, or ethnicity, it is discrimination - not just if I am female, or black.

Man, just when you think Poly has reached rock bottom, you get a thread in which people defend blatant discrimination.

Oh, of course, I'm supposed to be so guilt-ridden over someone else of my ethnicity keeping slaves, that I advocate reverse discrimination to clear my conscience.

Or their gender? Or their religion? Or their age? ...etc....
Time for some more white basketball players, more black hockey players, more male nurses, and more female firefighters. We don't need the best firefighters to save your puppy or a family in a fire, only a PC-looking team.

Besides the above problem, this discrimination assumes a guilty until proven innocent standard against individuals for something others did/do. If Pekka moves to the US & is white, he shouldn't be penalized because some bigot rejected a minority somewhere else in the country/world/past. Fighting a wrong from some people with the same wrong now applied against other people doesn't make a right. And it certainly doesn't lead to a more color-blind society. As mentioned earlier, there are better ways, even if you support AA, than to completely ignore the qualifications of an individual and put race first.

Diss, you are so amazingly wrong, I'm not even sure where you are anymore. Of course you can discriminate against white people. Don't be silly now. Try to go to Compton and see if no one there discriminates against you.

This is stupid. It strikes me as kind of racist too. Like they need black cops to make the black prisoners listen or something.

I seriously doubt I would be discrinated against, I may be harrassed, but not necessarily because I'm white.

Yes I'm ashamed of the treatment of black people over the years. Is it wrong to give something back?

No, you can give back all you want.

I however do not feel guilty for things people who are not alive did to people who are not alive, three generations removed. Neither of which have any connection with me.

And why exactly would a group of people voluntarily give up legeslation that lets them work less, no less, and try less while getting paid as if they worked more, know more, and tried more. If I were a well educated hard working black man I would be pretty pissed off that I was NOT playing on a level playfeild, even if it was tilted in my favor.
