Yeah, plus as I live in London, you need a lot of money to afford it...

Would a 40 hour a week, 40k a year job make you happy?

A mindless, boring job for less than £20,000 a year and a laughable (but very american) 2 weeks of holiday?
You're kidding me right?Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

The job is mindless and boring, while not physically demanding or hard, it is boring as hell.
You get 2 and a half weeks of paid vacation a year and good health benifits/insurance.
Would this job make you happy? He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

I wouldn't take it for the following reasons:
Holiday entitlement - I'd go crazy with that little. It's insane. 20 days would be the minimum I'd consider. Would expect 25 days.
Pay - $40,000 would be a pay cut (and working longer hours). I don't consider myself extremely overpaid at the moment.
Boring - My job isn't the best in the world but it's not boring.
Healthcare - we get free healthcare anyway on the NHS so that's not relevant. If I was in the US then that'd be a massive selling point, but that's another reason for not living in the US.
So I'll keep my better paid, less hours, more interesting job with double the holiday because the only advantage that one has is being guaranteed and I'm confident/skilled enough not to worry about that too much.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

It would be a stretch but if your wife worked even part time and you lived in a rural area then this job would pay for a family. I'd still want to get some sort of interesting side business to raise extra cash but it could be done.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

It is actually 9 or 10 (depending upon the company) for most workers.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Yeah, let's see:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Day
President's Day
Memorial Day
Independance Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas
I think that's it. But I could be leaving out one or two.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
