No way. I would accept if I had no other options, but there are numerous ways to make more money than that yearly...and many of them are legal.
    Haven't been here for ages....

I would take it if I lived in a developing country.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

No. That would be a HUGE step down for me.

Low prices in developing countries rule.

It costs 1200 a month or something like that to rent a single-room apartment in NYC. You can stay in a four star hotel in Argentina for about the same.

The kids play on sports teams, but they don't do Boy Scouts.
A good point about neccesity. I stand corrected.

Jaguar: Dude, you are having a what's the price of a loaf of bread moment. Renting an efficiency in NYC will set you back way more than $1,200 a month.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Well it only proves my point further.

And DanS, I saw your DanS.

I would definitely take a wage like that in Argentina. That would be fantastic. When I was in Argentina during the devaluation was great for foreigners (not so much for those paid in pesos though). Last I was in Argentina it was like 3 pesos to 1 dollar. So literally $40,000 dollars is worth 120,000 pesos.

Well, the edit was because I didn't know a precise figure, but it cost well more than that 5 years ago.

Most areas of the US aren't expensive living.

Steak dinner for 8 pesos, or about $2.70. I had a tenderloin every day.

I know a great restaurant where I used to live... it was like 7 pesos for a steak dinner and a big potato filled with sour cream, cheese and chives.

When I was in Argentina, I ate steak about three or four times a week.

Is it true that their beef is the best anywhere?

Based on my own opinion and taste, that's what I definitely think.

Pretty much. They have lots and lots and lots of cows there. So if you go there, eat steak and buy yourself a nice leather jacket.
