They should let it rest for awhile.

Ugh. It was just starting to get watchable, too.

It was a ****ty show and deserved to be cancelled after season 1.

So the word is that a part of the decision to cancel it was that when BSG premiered, it originally was up against it. And Enterprise got it's ass whupped hardcore.

          Good riddance!

They canceled a show that actually deserved to be canceled for once.

I don't understand why people didn't take to Enterprise. The show was justified viewing for the sensual T'Pol alone.

There was a rumour a while ago that JMS (the guy who created Babylon 5) was trying to get the next Star Trek series. I don't know if that ever worked out though.

And apparently there will be a "good" wrap-up of the series this season. There are unsubtle hints that they're currently working towards the founding of the Federation, starting with last week's episode. I'm not convinced that it will actually be high-quality though, since they're letting the Wonder Twins do the script.

They don't have a UPN broadcast outlet in my area, so I don't get to see Star Trek at all. Ugh.

I think the original series was the best. I still look forward to seeing repeats on the SciFi Channel.

Star Trek needs a new series, set in a time beyond TNG. In the new series, they should have the ability to travel to the Delta Quadrant, and should be exploring the Beta and Gamma Quadrants. The possibilities for good stories should abound. For example, imagine if the Federation had destroyed the Borg or made peace with them in some fashion.

I also must comment on this idea of letting Star Trek rest. I haven't heard such RUBBISH in my life. One person suggests this, then all the mindless sheep start chanting.

There are many series that have incredible longevity. Try to appreciate how long some soap operas like Days of Our Lives and The Young and Restless have been going. In Australia we have our own soap, Neighbours, which has been going for 20 years.

You may suggest such shows are of poor quality, but they aren't to the people who love them.

People like familiarity, and they like to escape the humdrum of their own lives. Why not cater for sci-fi fans? Must all Star Trek episodes involve life and death situations coupled with incredible spacial anomalies presenting a Pandora's box of paradoxes? I would be more interested in deeper character development, and the politics of running a starship, than silly, juvenile, comic book plots every week.

I had alot of hope for this series when it first came out, it was gritty and edgy and had a certain level of realism that the characters had on an emotional, humanistic level.

The other Star Trek series had that idealism and the characters didn't really have personalities.

But after a few shows, it seemed pretty flat, there was lots of potential for it to take alot of cool angles but it never seemed to go anywhere.

yeah it started off well. It almost seemed like a real ship. They had a cook who cooked food and all. I wanted to see the starships in their more primitive form.

but the writing really didn't work for me.

@Beekla, I hear ya, but I definatley think the Holodeck got overused for plots in TNG (Sherlock Holmes, Worf, San Francisco etc), I like pretty much the whole franchiase (sp) (bar Voyager) , but some episodes are a kop-out IMHO with mysterious emotion changing passengers on board every other week

I don't like it when Star Trek shows use the holideck or go back in time or land on a planet that is similar to earth during a particular moment in time.

(Like the whole Nazi thing that has been way overdone too many times).

It seemed like such a writer's copout.

Definitley the writing on this show was the letdown, as they had a good cast and a good set and camerawork, etc.

I was hoping they would go back to their roots of having sex with different colored women.
