Let the repugs be giddy-it will be their undoing.

Dean was a far better candidate than the other schmucks, and I think he will od much better than Terry in terms of creating an organization. After all, he was a successful governor for a decade.

The test will be the 2006 congressional elections. Terry McAuffile did not win a single one- if Dean wins the House back, he will have done far more than his predecessor.

I agree. Repubs have no need to show cockiness. The only way for the repubs to advance their cause is to be the real big tent party. (Afterall one of the two parties actually has to be adults one would hope. ) My fear is this apparent stupid move by Dem will embolden the wack job far right crowd and set us up form even less viable choices going forward.

Not only are we going to New Hampshire ... we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York. And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C. To take back the White House.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I fear that your fear is correct. What ever happened to that Moderate Republican special interest that was going to be set up by Governor Whitman?

I don't think the Republicans can or should be appeased. If they want to march on Czechoslovakia and invade Poland, it will be their undoing. Don't placate the tiger with bloody meat.

He couldn't even appeal to the party's base. What makes anyone thing he can expand the same base that didn't even bother to vote for him?

Dean very much appeals to the party base. They just chickened out, because they thought the bland kerry would do a better job of winning the moderates than Dean. They were wrong.

If one wants to use military analogies, one could easily reference Picketts Charge. Heck, the confeds didn't press their case hard enough.

Maybe if people think the Democrats are a real choice, rather than "republican lite" they'll actually vote for them?

I didn't like Kerry (better than Bush!) a huge amount, although he was great in the debates, but Dean seemed to be more sensible.

One of two things will happen.

Either the Democrats will beging to be a real difference to the Republicans, and begin pulling the country back left or they will implode. Either way, it's good for us socialists.

Were they? I don't really have anything against Dean, but do you think he would have done a better job picking up the moderates?
