All of which has nothing to do with what you said.
I'm saying the Iraqis are instrumental. The US was instrumental in taking out Saddam, after that it's been all downhill.

    • Everybody was instrumental in this who contributed money, time, sweat, blood, or votes. I was instrumental in this in a small way -- about $2,000 small, I guess. So was Berzerker, although he might have not liked the price tag. Jaakko wasn't instrumental in this, as far as I know.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

        Woohoo. Aren't you the hero.

I think I'll just let the track record of US failure in Iraqi speak for itself, from the delusional optimism of early days to the return of Vietnam-esque body count politics in 2004.

Looking at the genuine joy expressed by the majority in Iraq at voting, I don't feel half bad.

In fact, I'm feeling a little smug right now.

I doubt they feel that much gratitude towards the Americans.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Are you kidding? It's not going to be long until you'll start talking about the US saving the Iraqis' asses.

                  • There you go again with your hypotheticals. But before we begin, let's be clear that Jaakko wasn't saving anybody's ass in any manner whatsoever.

Depends on if you're a Sunni or Kurd or Shi'ite. Considering the vast majority under Saddam got screwed and now they have some actual control over their destiny, I suspect your assertion is ridiculous.
