Anyway, really great episode. A million times better than the Heroes finale. Only one thing bothered me...

Why did Charlie close himself into that hatch? Why not run out and escape with Desmond? I thought about it and eventually figured out that the pressure equalization would've made water flood in from the moonpool too, if the little window hadn't been closed off in that side hatch, but how would Charlie think of that? He's a musician and only had a split second to decide on what to do. Did he really think that he had to drown for everyone to get rescued?

This show is much easier to watch, knowing there will be an ending.
I'm guessing it's a lot more fun to write under those conditions as well.

I hate that we know so much about the ending now. Sure it answers a major question, but it's the one question that really should have been left until the end.

But WTF is up with the whole "radio jamming" thing? Jamming typically consts of using a radio transmitter to broadcast on the same frequency as the signal being jammed. The transmitted material is typically white noise, although other techniques are used. Essentially, the noise floor is raised such that intended signal can't be made out at the receiver. It can be overcome with highly directional antennas, or increased transmission strength (improve the S/N ratio). Broadband jamming would require far more than the one or two transmitters on the island. Cuz you can always just change the channel and transmit there. As evidenced by the Others' use of walkie-talkies.

I doubt that's how Jack is really going to end up. If they leave the island right now, what are they going to do for 3 more seasons? I think tonight's episode showed us what would have happened had they left the island before they were meant to, but someone is going to prevent that from happening. My guess is that Desmond will be that person...

Here's something I didn't pick up on, but others did. Jack's dad is alive in the future(?) scenes; Jack has a prescription from him and tells the chief of surgery to "Get my father down here. Get him down here now. If I'm drunker than he is, you can fire me." We know Jack's father is dead, so what the hell is going on? Was the future scene in some alternate reality where Jack's dad never died? Did everyone on Oceanic 815 die in another reality? Hell, was that even the future? I thought Jack listening to "Scentless Apprentice" on the way to the funeral home was just a way to make us think Jack's story was just another flashback, but maybe it really was happening in the '93/'94...

I thought he was just really jonesin for the oxycontin and would say anything to get it. People in that state will do anything to get the drugs, and certainly using a dead man's name isn't shocking.
