Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
The broken alliance is not a cheat - but the AI returning ships halfway across the Atlantic is damn annoying. I guess it is a Civ "feature" I can't do much about - but if you hadn't blockaded Portsmouth and stopped the troops I was going to take Orleans with from getting to France, I wouldn't have had to do it.
I will not hinder Dutch ships - but I have a right to expect them not to hinder mine - which they WERE doing!
True. You only get the marine flag, and as Boarding Parties are so strong in this game, particularly against Forts, the French should concentrate on them.
For the English, that extra HP is often worth the extra 20 shields, as in the late game this often just means 5 turns to build a unit, rather than 4.
Despite the horrid loss of the beutiful city of Orleans, now spoilt and defiled by English plunderers, the year of 1781 has been one of many victories for the glorious French forces.
In the New World the Brittish settlement of New Brunswick was conquered without any significant losses and the French northern expiditionary force is expected to advance northwards to a suspected second Brittish colony in the area.
To the south, French forces where able to once again seize controll of Fort Tinconderoga.
The fort's current garrison is larger than it ever was during it's previous French ownership, and the troops where delighted to report that the fort had been seiged with it's non combatant's shelters intact.
A frenzy of diplomatical activity is said to have taken place during the year and many rumours circulate, however there has been no formal treaties declared as of yet (but that does not mean none where signed ).
It is believed that the French government will clarify it's diplomatical endeavors in the spring of 1781...
In Europe where Brittish forces most unrightfully attacked the royal city of Orleans, a bold line of action was taken.
Instead of striking at Orleans where the Brittish army was expected to have garrisoned many of it's experienced troops.
A large scale storm of the trenches surounding Paris was undertaken.
The attack was a total succes (allbeit a succes involving many casualties) and all Brittish forces beseiging the French capital was anhilated, among these where 7 units of brittish seige mortars, and two brigades of royal siege engineers!
Even the trenches themselves where destroyed to prevent new Brittish troops from moving in and holding the area untill reinforcements can arrive.
At this point, the Brittish passed the French in # of lost heavy seige equipment, and this strike is suspected to have severely reduced the Brittish ability to wage war in Europe.
Finally, some French millitary analysists dare say, the Battle of Paris is over!
You might want to rethink the current British Warmonger policy!
*"Winning is still the goal, and we cannot win if we lose (gawd, that was brilliant - you can quote me on that if you want. And con - I don't want to see that in your sig."- Beta
Despite this turn of event, the French commander in cheif must congratulate the Brittish field marshal to a very well managed campaign.
The war has been one of many unpleasent suprises for the French leadership.
You might want to rethink the current British Warmonger policy!
Indeed I might, SKI. Well, Henrik, shall we negotiate a peace? Looks like I won't be taking Paris for a few years yet! As I attacked first (even though I waited the statutory move), I will let you move last in this war.
Tell me if you want that move to be it.
Otherwise, I have plenty of troops left in Europe, but very few siege guns. Therefore I can do damage, but take no well-defended cities....
I didn't say peace would be general, or even for the rest of the game! However, it IS a point, and I would like to keep fighting. However, there is not much hope of taking more French cities now, except at the edges. To play a total "mad-dog" style would be (1) unrealistic, (2) unfair on Henrik, who might have plans for France that do not include a death stuggle with England and (3) not my style anyway.
Yes, I can be a warmonger, but I hope not a totally irrational one...
