As for hostile, I can see why you would be upset, but view it from my side also, I thought we had agreed to this, and your slave came and ended 2 food, and 2 shields, and can't make the tile airable.

does this compensation make Holland a wardeclarable country? or have I missed also we must leave you alone till the end?

Your free to attack, statecraft is different from other matters.
I only asked to be left alone, because frankly, I have no chance.

You can read the unit amounts, the same as I, do you doubt that you could take most of my nation?

The last time I looked I had about 88 units, in 45 colonies, you had something like 240 units!

Plus I cannot produce units with any speed, the new world has little production, and the old world supports what military I have.

If your determined to attack, I only ask you give me two turns, I will perpare what defenses I can.

Not much activity, as British forces are replenished, with much expenditure of gold. The advantage seems to have swung to the defender in most battles....

I don't remember a ruling that Holland was to be allowed these special squares either - Spain certainly was not. However, we have no need to disagree about it. Chris most evidently does not want to go to war.

I vote Holland is declared neutral, can get on with empire development in peace, and we three can get on with our little 3-way tussle.

Does that suit you, Chris?

There can be no "winners" in such a game, except in the sense we are all pleased or displeased by what we have achieved. That suits me. I'm having a blast!

(And Colonies IV lets EVERYONE have some government alternatives...)

Speaking of which, how is the development on that going?

Well, I'm pleased to say I intend to email Chapter 1 (1630-1688) to the playtesters tonight!

The scenario will actually be playable to 1780, but I have only tested tech progression and play balance to around 1680, so things might go a bit askew after that, I don't know.

Anyway, that's the point of this playtest. When the SP tests are complete all the way to the end, we can have some MP fun as well!

Too bad my christmass break will be over on tuesday
I will probably not have much time for civ next week, as I need to do the schoolwork for two weeks that week (as I will be going away to the Canary Island of La Gomera the week after that and thus will miss out on one week of school).
After that though there will probably be plenty of reports from me (and I'll play on Monday)

(btw this also means I probably won't be very quick when it comes to playing my pbem turns either during this time).

I don't mind going to war John, I would like to ride the scenario out, but Manolo is right, war is part of the game.

I leave it to Spain, I will abide by whatever Waku wants, because I believe that no ill will was intentioned, and I made him angry, because I was, but that is no excuse.
Spain has been a good ally all the way, and I should have been more polite in asking why the slave acted as it did.

At any rate, I hope your not mad Manolo, after all, we have been beating each other for a long time at civ, it's just a silly game.

If Holland is to be treated in the same way as Spain (and England & France too, for that matter), the special resources you get by transforming hills should not be allowed. Please plunder or otherwise un-transform them, if possible.

It was indeed true that Holland was disadvantaged in the early game by her Government form, (and maybe we allowed you the hill-transform then to compensate a bit, I can't remember) but with modern industrial improvements cranking out shields, you should have little problem now. Bristol, for example, produces 54 shields a turn, and the 3 "free" shields are not really significant. Holland has more, and bigger cities in the New World than England, and should be a real contender in any battle there.

How do you want to proceed, Waku?

I'm affraid your FAR misinformed John, even with the King Richards wonder, New Amsterdam Barely makes 30 shields.

No other city even comes close, a look at the map shows why, the Dutch cities are all placed with no hills nearby to mine, and it's forced to share sea spaces with it's own cities and others as well.

An example, keeping in mind that every unit built deminishes the capacity, and these cities have factory and Iron foundry:
Antwerpt: 25 sheilds
Amsterdam 21
Den Haag: 20

Buffalo, which has a mine: 24

Holland is totally out of balence, and should not be played in a mulit-player scenario, this nation, it's government and starting postion are completly unable to compete.
You will notice bristol has hills to mine, Holland has none.
The only place that has the land in question is Willemstadt (1), city shield production 11
Perto Cabello (1) city shield production 7
Caracas (1) CSP 22 (there is a mine nearby)
Running deer (3) CSP 12
Cherrokee valley (1) CSP 11

Anybody here STILL think it is fair to deprive me of even THIS?

In fact, I see Waku about to do this to the Spanish Main., and I'm STILL mad about it, who made Spain the Policemen of our game, to go destroy a weak ally's land?

No John, I DON'T think it's fair to order them destroyed, especially since you guys agreed I can have them, and now at the end, I must destroy them and be attacked?

And you consider this fair?

Because Waku thinks he's been treated badly, I said leave it to him, but don't try to sell me that this is in some way the right thing to do, this entire scenario is for three players, Holland is hopless against the living, and what small advantage I have must be removed because the STRONGEST player objects?

Maybe you guys should just let the AI handle holland from now on, if you all think this is fair.

I refuse to continue untill this is resolved, I feel I have been totally f*cked here.

I request we vote on this, and back this game up to before Waku took it upon himself to attack me this way.

We had a solid agreement, what gives him the right to attack without a war declaration?

Didn't we all agree to give a turn's notice before attacking each other?

What is this crap????
