I suppose it's something funny a tv/movie char says but it means I don't have spanish, you probably refer to yo no entiendo español = I don't (can't) understand spanish
I learned what little espanol I know in college and we were team-taught in a summer-intensive course. Unfortuneately, the team was composed and a Texan, a Cuban, and a Castilian. So yes, we were told that the literal translation of "Yo no tengo . . . " was "I don't have . . . " but that the actual colloquial translation was, when referring to language, "I don't (speak) . . . "
So there. Blame it on a university education.
