By the way, something silly's up in Bavaria's stat blocks: Salzburg's ring wall isn't there, and Passau has both a ring wall and a palisade. I'm guessing Salzburg's ring wall is finished, since you mentioned that in an update, and that Passau really only has one ring wall. Though double fortifications is an interesting idea, it seems a little grandiose for Germans of this era.
In other news, wonderful to have this up! I'll have my orders in shortly.

Hm, how did that escape me? The world may never know. It has been fixed.
PS. Micha, you really ought to update your sig to the current thread.

Thanks, Micha. I should have more time to put into this - I have winter break coming up, followed by a minimal-credit last semester in which all I really need to do is write 100 pages about post-Ottoman Macedonian religious identity and nationalism. I enjoy modding this and I hope you've all enjoyed it so far, even with my occasional scatter-brained antics.
If you see any of our fellow posters around that haven't been here in awhile, let them know we're still chugging along here.

And we appreciate your work- this is one of the best NESes I've participated in. Really spectacular.

Nimitz, I thought I would inform you that because the size of the Duchy has expanded since last turn, the number of vassals (knights and sergeants) you have available has also expanded.
Vassals: 245 (310) knights, 680 (930) sergeants (125 and 360 called up)
If you wish, you can call up to 245 knights and 680 sergeants this turn, increasing the number of vassals in your army to nearly double the current amount. You don't have to do this, it's just a friendly reminder.
Edit: also, are you personally accompanying the Army of Prague, or are you staying in Prague?

I intend to roll up generals tomorrow. PMs to Nimitz and appleciders (for espionage) will also be coming soon.

Duke Arnulf of Bavaria to Margraf Eberhard of Carinthia (In Absentia)
My brother, it would appear that our reconquest of Carinthia is imminent, and I wish to discuss with you how Carinthia will fit into Germany as you assume command.
The first issue of business is the army of Carinthia, which I hope and need to be a major assistance in protecting our borders. In the first two years of your command, I would like to see a Carinthian army raised of at least 500 soldiers, and possibly as high as 800 soldiers total in the two years following. After the Emperor leaves, I will raise at least some of my own barons to act as a chivalric guard for our armies, because I expect you will want to get started assigning fiefdoms to each of the Frankish knights who have helped us voluntarily for the last few years, as well as any Germans who have impressed you, and dispatch them to their lands so that Carinthia will regain profitability.
The second order of business is the matter of the iron payments we agreed upon as a condition of my relinquishing Carinthia to you. As I am well supplied with Bohemian iron right now, I am willing to accept only 300 d. of iron from the mines that originally produced 450 d. I am also willing to help pay to expand the mines, as the iron ore was quite rich and should provide much more iron than it had been, and as I understand that you will be needing substantial quantities of iron to build yourself an army, I will suspend those payments to allow you the funds to rebuild your army. I would be willing to commit to two years of suspended payments, at which time I will decide whether to extend the period of suspension, take a limited amount of iron, or begin taking my allotted 300 d. of iron.

For now I shall only be visiting to check the progress of the Fort, to check on the troops, and to over see the divying of the armor. I will be staying in Prague to over see my other policies but may soon be escorting them to the further east.

Hrabě Zelislav z Kladno - Age 31
This popular noble has gained a reputation for hot-headed defiance. During the Magyar occupation, he refused to ally with the conquerors and attacked and killed a Magyar sub-chieftain in his domain. As a partisan of Bohemia, he is unequalled, but because he is a pagan he has not always gotten along with the Přemyslid Dukes and their Christian allies. He is loyal to Bohemia and a staunch enemy of the Magyars, but is opposed to the alliance with Germany and is one of the leading voices for a newly independent Great Moravia. He is reasonably proficient as a general, though not possessing any outstanding ability.
Hrabě Ondrej z Trutnov - Age 42
A Christian knight with lands in the east, this noble comes from an old Nitrian family and was an important general of Great Moravia. His army was crushed by the Magyars; though by all accounts he was a good commander, his force was betrayed by one of his lieutenants who defected to the Magyars. Since then, he has retreated to his estates and not had much of an impact on politics. He is known as a creative and bright tactician, and is unflinchingly brave – he has as many kills to his name as any of his old soldiers. Though somewhat of a recluse and not terribly popular, he is well educated and supposedly loyal.
Pán Zivon Červená - Age 33
The Polans who have been settling in eastern Bohemia have their own lords and leaders, and this man is one of them. Though a pagan and an ethnic Polan, this man’s family has been allied to the Přemyslids for several years and assisted in the defense of Bohemia before the fall of Prague to the Magyars. This man is a true chieftain of the old style (his nickname is “the red” for his bloody exploits in battle) and is a competent warrior and reasonably charismatic leader, though his tactics are simple and straightforward. He has many allies in the east of the country where Polan influence is high, but is mistrusted by the largely Christian nobles of the west.
Bavaria
Landgraf Hrudolf von Tegernsee – Age 40
Called “the Invincible” by his men, this rustic noble is well known to have ridden calmly through veritable storms of arrows unscathed. He seems to have miraculous luck in this regard, and unflinchingly leads from the front – he is stone-faced, emotionless, and fearless. This does not make him the most popular man among his peers, who don’t quite know what to think about someone with the emotional capacity of a rock. His tactics are simple, but generally sufficient. He is a man that keeps his own council and says little, and thus not much else is known of him.
Freiherr Fastred von Arlon – Age 32
This noble was originally a poor Lothairingian knight who signed up as a Venetian mercenary under the Donaugraf von Wien. Though he served under von Wien, he is not a Norman and has no particular allegiance to him. Von Wien promoted him to a lieutenant in the mercenary force, noting his valor in the field, his popularity among the troops, and his sensible and insightful stratagems. Though he appears to be a promising commander and a thoughtful leader (as well as a capable engineer), his loyalty is suspect given his mercenary background.
Vizegraf Gaido von Eichstätt – Age 46
A lord from southwestern Nordgau, this man was confined to his estates during von Nordgau’s rebellion for refusing to join the rebellion; this seems enough proof of his loyalty. Though not noted as a particularly outstanding commander, he is competent, and is held in high regard by his fellow nobles throughout Nordgau. He is by all accounts a careful and deliberate man, taking great time to make decisions but never making them rashly. He received a monastery education, and is literate and numerate, able to manage engineering projects with skill if not genius.
Saxony
Landgraf Theudobald von Osnabrück - Age 28
A relatively young man, this noble was educated by a Greek tutor and is literate in several languages. He is reputed as a very intelligent man, applying his sharp intellect to both theological discussions and estate management. Though he is untested in battle, perhaps his intelligence would be applicable there as well. He is a popular and clever man by all accounts, and seems loyal enough.
Vizegraf Leonhard von Zeitz - Age 35
This noble is a Wend converted to Christianity in the wake of the invasion of Wendish Thuringia, after witnessing the Duke’s victories. He is a huge man of statuesque proportions, known for fearlessness and immense physical strength – there is a reason he chose the Germanic name “Leonhard” (Lionheart). Though perhaps not the most clever commander, he seems sincere in his conversion and is respected and admired by Wends both Christian and Pagan. Like most nobles, he is illiterate and not much with engineering.
Wildgraf Alaric von Quedlinburg - Age 36
A knight involved in the invasion of Thuringia, this man has proven himself as a skilled and popular commander. He is an aggressive and resourceful warrior who tends to make attacking his priority, and hang the defense! He has been known for persecuting pagans in his lands and is no friend of the heathen – though he is popular back in his own lands, he has expanded his influence into Meissen (his lands border the new Mark) and is hated by the Wends for his ruthless spreading of the faith. Though not literate, he is capable enough with engineering pursuits.

I like all my choices too and wish to keep them avalible for later choosing; it is kind of overwhelming. But for now I will pick Hrabì Ondrej z Trutnov for his experience.
