We do not require ants, as we have our own anthill, but we do need our food very much. So this is a very clear no.

Sorry, didn't see you had an anthill.

        Clay gnomes to Bush gnomes:

We can agree to those stipulations, but it does decrease the value of the ants, so they won't be worth quite as much food. We would be happy to carry out the trade for just a little more ants or a little less food.

        66 gnomes, 4 ants.

4 gnomes travel to the land of the trash gnomes to teach them how to manufacture pebble axes (they will have made a few beforehand to offer as gifts)

[I was thinking of the NKVD gnomes as sort of a unit like any warrior gnome, except they don't fight, they are responsible for internal observation, propaganda, detective work, maybe policing and external spying in the future...]
Assign 2 additional loyal gnomes to the NKVD, for a total of 7

16 gnomes and all 4 ants are to build a special tunnel store room, to house designs and artefacts and technology, and specially arranged little knick knacks, that, when arranged properly, can be "read" by specially trained historian gnomes. This will serve as a more reliable and lasting, albeit bulky, form of information keeping than just memory.

15 spear gnomes, for the next 4 years, are to work in convoys transporting food from the trash gnomes, traveling at night under cover in a staggered system to avoid losses.

18 gnomes to begin setting up an armory, both as a place where research can be more systematically carried out, with less danger of accidents because it is clean and spacious and well organized, and it will when completed have sections for workshop construction of weapons, tools, and a storage shed to contain them.

The rest have their "special familial duties"

Those walls are absent of glory as they always have been. The people of tents will inherit this land.

Foolish and Gamecube64, you guys might want to recheck your orders. Remember, your army counts as assigned gnomes too; Foolish would have to disband parts of his army to carry out his orders, and Gamecube64, you've assigned 150 gnomes, not counting military; your population is only 140. Check your addition.

                I´ll take the Wall Gnomes!

                128 civilian gnomes, 20 soldiers

With the new Gnome King Mikus the Wall Gnomes hope to escape the drairyness of their lives. As a first action, 15 additional flail Gnomes have been ordered to training. They will help the expansion to the vast lands in the East, including the huge Bush named "Carnh Aeloree". The plant promises new food sources as thousands of insects are reported to travel its branches and leaves. Also there are rumours of huge berries growing during springtime...

40 Gnomes, including 10 of the old flail gnomes, are leaving the colony for the East. They will scout the land leading to Carnh Aeloree and the mystic bush itself. Should they encounter anything that might be used as food, one of 8 "food testers" - Gnomes with especially hardy stomaches - will try to eat it. If they are still healthy after two days, the new food will be brought back to the colony.

Another 10 Gnomes will start working on a rope network for the colony. This will hopefully lead to a safer transfer between the different levels of the wall, and eventually allow the colony to expand upwards along the wall. At a height of 120 GL (Gnome Lengths) a large opening consisting of shiny transparent stone (?) can be seen. Maybe that material could be used for better weaponry or for civilian builds...

The other Gnomes will be allowed to breed, excluding five ambassadors sent to the lands of the Clay Gnomes. We need to obtain any knowledge about subterranean buildings. This will - in the distant future - allow us to explore the depths of our homelands (and what lies behind them)...
We will offer examples of our ropes and a possible trade thereof, but not the material it is made of.

OK, Gamecube, so you only assigned 140 gnomes in your orders, but you're still not accounting for your current army. Armies created in previous turns are included in your total population, not separate. Your orders, as is, would disband your army to redirect those gnomes to other tasks.

Foolish, you assigned 88 gnomes to new tasks this turn, not counting breeding, and you have 48 gnomes already in your army. 114 - 88 - 48 = -26, so your orders as posted would disband 22 gnomes from your army, and leave no gnomes for breeding.

Micha, which bush are you referring to? The one directly to your east, near the Twin Lake Gnomes? Do you just want to expand your territory, or actually found a second city?

It would be helpful to have "population" separated into "total / labourforce" in the stats, so it´s easier to see how many you can actually use. While it´s hardly a problem by now, I find it difficult to substract 467 from 1119 for example...

Yes, exactly this one. It´s up to luck whether this exploration party can found a new colony or not. But the main task for them is expanding the territory and finding new food sources...

It will be separated after the update. I didn't do that up 'til now because I wanted it to be clear that gnomes could be transferred between the military and labor force, but that may be less of a problem than the confusion of the moment.

OK, your exploration party will attempt to found a new city.

                        Great NES btw!

Where did you get the idea from? And the map? I like it!

edit: scrap that new city plan, we will come back to it later. Just let them accomplish their mission...

                            121

Twenty gnomes will be sent to forage for food in the most efficient manner. Once we recieve the food from the Clay Gnomes, they will be in charge of optimal distribution of the food.

                            101

Ten gnomes will begin research of ant calvary, for military, scouting, and building purposes.

                            91

Ten gnomes will begin research on how to best implement a defence of our glorious land.

                            The rest shall breed.

                              To Gamecube64: Thanks! That'll work.

To Micha: Credit for this NES and the map should go to Xen over at CivFanatics, although I altered the rules some.

To everyone: I'm starting the update; Foolish, if you want to alter your orders, I'll accept your changes until midnight US western time. Expect the finished update tomorrow evening.

POWARS send a scout to make contact with the Bush Gnomes, and reccomend that they change their name to the Cheney gnomes. Also, the scout will seek out any possible trade or training opportunities that may exist.
