I think we should have a story. To add more plot and intrigue. That woudl make it really fun

but it'd be a bit hard to have both a story thread while still keeping up with this tactical stuff...

Well, considering the fact that BT hasn't even played a game of Dip before, I would say this is a more organized version of a story thread.

The Prussians have agreed to cede the territory of Klevey to the Rhineland in return for Mecklenburg and 32$ per turn every turn(so change the map! ).

Edit: Mao: I've already merged the two, if you can't seem to fit in the tactics, just end the story, then in a little section under it post them.

yeah, but we're basically doing is just writing stories after we already know the outcomes of battles. I thought story-writing skills basically determined battles (with realism of course).

Also, about the deal between JT3 and I, he lied! I never agreed! j/k

I did agree, but what if we're at war? Can the GM enforce such an agreement between us?

OOC - To add to the storyline.

            IC

The leaders of Russia, Prussia, and Austria met today in Prague to discuss a possible alliance between the three superpowers. Russian leader Tsar Konstantin II, Prussian leader King Frederick II, and Austrian leader Kaiser Francis I were all seated in a large splendid room surrounded by servants, courtiersm and diplomats. The flags of all three great kingdoms stood by the jeweled table. Francis nodded to Frederick who nodded to Konstantin. The great sheets of parchment were laid before them. Francis spoke.

"Gentlemen. You all know why we ahve been called here. We are here to lay out an alliance, a Trikaiserbund if you will that will pave the way for a better and powerful Europe" said Francis. Frederick nodded and puffed on his pipe. While Konstantin whispered to one of his aides in Russian.

From what foreign observers could make out the treaty was to make a strong allaince between the three powers, strenghthen their economies, and several secret clauses. However the treaty has not been officially signed yet.

The thing is JT3, true BT has never played Diplomacy, but he has played Empire in Arms (where the map is from) I assume, and therefore based this on a simplified version of that, which is Diplomacy.

Another thing: Are we to conduct dimplomacy here in the thread or priavtely via e-mail/ICQ? In a story thread, we'd do it in the thread and there would be nothing really secret since you had to announce what you were doing (even if IC it was secret), but in diplomacy it was done privately. Ach...so confusing...

                quote:

                1,620*30%= $486

Bearcat, this is way, way, way off. You have to subtract your fleet and infantry funds. Your military budget would be this:

                $486
                -$180 for army
                -$0 for navy
                Total military budget: $306

That is perfect for Austria, Bearcat.

JT3, you have 40,000 standing troops! And no attacks until Monday! That's final!
If you want more, you have to build them like Bavaria, Hesse, Prussia, and everyone else.

It would also be helpful if once you post your deployments you don't change them repeatedly... Thanx for keeping the mod sane.

                      • What the hell are you talking about Polaris? That is my military funds total. Than I subtracted what I had to pay to raise my military which was $20 mutiplied by 18. So that equaled $306 I spent on my infantry/cavalry. Im only spending $15 dollars on my navy. So what are you talking about?

                        Comment

                        • Okay I think I see what you are talking about Polaris. My full military income is $486 however after paying all my ground forces it would be $126 which is what you're trying to say is my total military budget. Such a nitpicker

                          • So BT can I have the money from JT3? hehe...oh yeah, and I changed the deployments once. And since JT3 now has Kleves (pending your approval of our deal), just make the army I had in Cologne in Merckenburg (the newly acquired territory from JT3) (sp?) OK?
