    ugh

I have no problem with the graphics (I even like them on occasion - seeing the Spanish flag flying over the bahamas ) but they are very easy to ignore.

I'm more concerned about the fact that they seem to go more the CK direction, less historical, more "fantasy". I don't have anything against those new "situational" events per se, I actually think it's overall a nice approach. Still I think they could have done much more to keep more of the historic feel, for me it was always one of the key elements of the paradox games I liked (mainly Eu and HOI2 DD).

And paradoxplaza gives a lot "too busy" messages since the game is out. They should do something about it.

So does the version from the Paradox site allow for Mods? Some services (Direct2Drive for instance) scrambles the DLLs so mods will sometimes not work.

I haven't played the game, but I can't imagine how it would be impossible to ignore the graphics.

Well, perhaps, I understand what that could mean in the context of a text or asci based game, but a game that actually has a graphical design to it can not, in my mind, be considered without also considering the graphics that it employs. Actually I think this is true of even ascii games, as there is a element of design and flexibility even in that, or how the textual descriptions are handled in a text based game. The visual design of a game is very important to setting the atmosphere that is created.

The version from Paradox operates just the same as if you installed it from a CD, or so my experience has been.

                  I haven't played the game,

What are your specs? EU3 doesn't demand much graphics wise, but RAM are very important, and also, although to a slight lesser degree, so are the processor.

As said, it must be old or very ****ty. The only reqs are a 128 MB, Pixelshader 2.0 card.

Well, I just ordered EU3 from the Paradox shop. Then I read the Paradox forums about graphics cards. (I know - I should have done those things in the reverse order).

Looks like my FX 5200 (which I bought to play Civ4) will struggle. I will give it a try but I'm probably looking at either a new graphics card or a new computer.

My Mobility Radeon 7500 runs Civ pretty well, even though it's below minimum. I hope EU3 is going to work, because I'm definitely not going to buy a new computer.

As long as you have Pixelshader 2.0 (any card never than 3 or 4 years IIRC) and 128 MB RAM on the card(with the new patch, this RAM demand can to a degree be bypassed. See the official forum for more info), you're set to go as I said. But a quick search on the net shows that Mobility Radeon has 16 to 32 MB RAM, so you might be in some deep trouble with that card I'm afraid...
