gaming on a laptop should be a last resort - unless you got a spare £2000 to make sure you get one that can run modern games.

My laptop, which I bought last autumn, and cost me 9.000 NOK (~1.400 USD, with Norwegian prices, quite an average price), can play Oblivion, so gaming on a laptop is no problem. Most computers sold today are latops anyway, so that is no surprise really. And really, with an AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce GO 7200 256 MB machine, most current games should work.Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

It was working fine last night, but now once I skip the intro video or when it is over, I get a message saying that it failed to creat a graphics device. It may be because I have more than one graphics/screen card. And that I could try to write adapter=1 in the settings.txt file. I then opened the file and wrote "adapter=1" on the bottom of the page. It still won't work.USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

I preordered the CE a month and a half ago, and it still hasn't arrived (it was supposed to get here five days ago). I'm tempted to go ahead and download a pirated copy..."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "

I'm paranoid I know but that doesn't mean that they aren't out to get me.

Only problem though is that you'd lose most of the bonus bits'n'pieces that come with the CE. Not good as a final solution.

The main bonuses with the CE won't get lost though. Like the ability to get the special attention of the devs in the continuing development(like voicing your opinion and getting to beta test the patches).Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

It's €10 more, and you get an extra CD with the music of the game, a map poster, a strategy guide in addition to the manual, an own forum where you get the special ear of the devs, and you can among other things get a say in the future developing of the game and test the beta patches between the official patches if you want.Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

Well, my copy turned up today (ordered online from Paradox).
Installed fine, registered at Paradoxplaza and updated to 1.1.
Then I tried the tutorials.
When they say a FX 5200 will run the game but the performance is poor they mean poor. The lag is almost unplayable (even though my card is the AGP8X, 256MB RAM version). So I've just had to order a new card - a FX 6200 for 75 euro. That is supposed to be rather better for EU3.Never give an AI an even break.
