I was thinking about choosing a pre-generated map, but I thought that people might complain about too much difference for the cities (That's why I thought about the other solution, where people who wanted to play on a tougher map, could make their own map...

But if it's a general agreement on having a pre-made region, we'll take that...

So... how many is in for a pre made map? And in this case: Which one?

The game would proberly not start withing the next week anyway, so we have some time to get voting

About the large maps, I thought about making them:
    1) All water... maps next to them, would at least have some water on the map
    2) Making them avaliable for people who reach certain goals before others (Maybe a min. number of Sims in the city, etc)

They are too far away from each other, to have all players start with such map (= no/little cooporation), and it might be too unfair to have some players have those large maps...
This space is empty... or is it?

It's only too late to join, when all spaces have been filled... and there's lots of spaces still open for now

I just had a look at the save files. In my current game, all my cities are named:

City - New City (x).sc4 (Where x is a number)

While in the pre-made regions, the cities are named:

          City - 'cityname'.sc4

How come it doesn't name my city files as their city name? And no, I didn't name all my cities 'New City'

Then give me some middle sized terrain near the shore and close to everyone.

Assuming we use the current region, I woould like the medium map just north of "Mayor Jonny".

Concerning the possibility of using a pre-made region, I vote yes! Which one? Hmmm, London has nice rivers and Fairview has a lot of coastline, I think those would both be good choices, maybe new York for coastline as well.

edit: Of course, this map is fine is fine if the vote goes with the current one as well.

Fairview is too small for MP, since there's only 3-4 middle sized terrain, which is too far apart (taken the size of the map)... and london looks like hell...

How about Berlin? Lots of coast-line, lots of flat land... And there's no large terrain sizes, and the small is at the edge of the map...

What spots are still open ADG? If that picture is current at the top of the thread, I'll take the spot directly south of yours.

Has anyone else made a terrain we could use, instead of just those that's included in the game?

I have one that's about 30% done, though it's not remarkable special...
...and another one that's special, but looks too strange...

I think the San Francisco region has a good amount of variety.

I've done some work on a region of my own, it's only about half done, but with the coast lines and such finished the vacant lots could be left for those who want a blank canvas.

Why isn't there a region generator? This is the first Sim City game to not have a map generator.

I think that a blank water region could be interesting, too, with everyone creating their own islands. Connections could be made easier through seaports and making small islands along the borders that wouldn't be any real threat to the other's city since it is off shore.

Your region looks interesting... About the blank water region: That might work...

About San Fransico: I can't start the game then, since I have changed some of the terrain... but else, it looks like an good terrain...

I think you can copy over the default region information from the CD by copying the folder (and renaming it, if you don't want to overwrite what you've done) to C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions
