I'm planning on playing the game through again sometime (with a few changes, of course, like playing as house Redoran or Hlalu instead of Telvanni), but don't have time at the moment. Eventually, though...

      wow, you are buffed

a question though, can you enchant items that you own without any enchanting skill? (in other words can you go to an enchanter and get an item enchanted (my guy wants stuff that he can not find to buy, but he does not want to learn any magic))

my current game has turned into a fighter/theif game (but specialised) (emphasis on fighter)

my next game will probably be a mage/theif gamer (just because beign a theif is just so much fun for quests) (emphaiss on mage)

that might be it, or I might do a weapon master/theif game (emphasis on theif)

Yup, your Enchant skill isn't used at all when you pay somebody else to do the enchanting.

I am not going to try and do everything with every character

I will try to do most the imperial quests I can do with my current guy (as well as some of the quests related to other involvements of him) as well as a house (I have not decided which yet, I am leaning Hlalu)

and my next character I will try to do most of the Telvanni and mage quests (as well as temple quests)

and my third guy I would do most of the theif and 3rd house quests (as well as fighters guild)

one or more of them will also do Mang Tong (did I hit all the guilds?)

Just to warn you, the thief/mage combinations I've tried always seem to overlap each other too much. (Why bother learning "sneak" when you can just render yourself invisible? Why bother learning "security" when you can just magic open a door?) Weapon master/thief might be the better choice for this reason alone. (Then again, maybe overlap is a good thing. I always go for the "versatility" route, though, rather than the "be really good at one thing" route.)

                  that is cool

I am not wanting to be a theif for thiefs sake, but for the things you can do

I don't plan on putting any points towards sneak or security with that character

                  (I think it will be:

                  Alchemy, Conjuration, Enchant
                  Illusion
                  Athletics
                  Acrobatics
                  Alteration, Destruction, Mysticism, Restoration

I keep playing with the idea of taking one of those out and adding Marksman

the versatility point is why I put theif with all of them

that seems to be the versitile class, I was originally intending to be a major diplomat and fighter

but it turned out I needed some theif skills, so I trained them (and alchemy was needed so I started studying that on ym own)

the third character will focus on theiving and weapon profeincy, so something like

                      Marksman, Sneak, Block, Security, Athletics
Blunt Weapon, Short Blade, Axe, Acrobatics
                      Light Armor

                      Jon Miller

As you can see, with the exception of athletics and aerobatics (and blocking for warriors) every character will have a different focus

oh, and for my 3rd character I would like to fit unarmed combat in there also (I am thinking maybe KHAJIIT)

Go to anybody who offers the Enchanting service (listed in the top of the dialogue box, along with things like Repair, Spellmaking, Barter, Training, etc.) and who is willing to Enchant for you (I'm pretty sure that most Enchanters will work for you regardless of whether you're in their faction or not, but don't know for sure). When you click Enchanting with these people it will open up a menu, in which you select the item you want to be enchanted, the soul you want to use for the process, and what properties you want the enchanted item to possess. I'm pretty sure that you can only select properties that you own a spell for, though; f'rinstance, if you want to Enchant something so that you can Use it in order to restore your health, then you'll need a Restore Health spell in your spellbook in order to have this option when you're enchanting the item. If you want the item to cure poison, then first you'll need a Cure Poison spell. Etc.

The Enchant skill is used to enchant your own items for free (enchanting can get pretty expensive), and is also used to recharge your enchanted items with soul gems.

BTW, if you ever want to work on your Alchemy skill, then just eat lots of cheap ingredients like Saltrice or Bonemeal. There are sacks and sacks of Saltrice everywhere, and Bonemeal is in abundant supplies in tombs and can also be gotten off of Bonelords and Skeletons that you kill. Typically I'd just keep collecting every single ingredient that I found, and when I needed to lighten my burden a bit I'd eat all of the ingredients that cost less than 5 gp apiece (not worth selling, in other words) and that I didn't need to create Restore Magicka potions.

so it might be worthless for me (I know no spells?)

what is a simple way I could see? (could I have the spell in scrolls and enchant from that?)

how do I get a soul?
