I liked Starcraft multiplayer, but not as much as I would have like a multiplayer TBS game, but since those are impractical...

Never played any RTS MP. A few times I thought I might give it a whirl, but I do get put off by the rushfest ideas I see whenever I browse MP strat forums for such games. Why do people like Starcraft/TA MP so much? Has anyone played warcraft3 MP?

Has anyone beaten "The Culling" mission from the Human campaign yet? If so, could you tell me how you did it?

            I beat it.

Send out Arthas and the units you start with as soon as the game starts. They'll be enough to wipe out the houses to the south of your start position.

Send them back-up units as soon as possible and once you've got an army of about 10-12 units go after Mal'Ganis, who starts in the centre of the map, and kill him. Use your healing spell on his undead minions to hurt them.

Once he's dead he'll stay out of the game for a couple of minutes. Use this time to re-stock your attack force and create a few base defenders. Your base will be attacked a few times, but your Peasants Call to Arms ability and a couple of knights should be enough to defend yourself.

The key to this mission is to keep attacking those peasant houses all the time, you can easily flip back and forth between your attackers and your base.

Like many games of Warcraft III the best way to win is Rush, Rush, Rush and Rush some more.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

              I agere on the rush

I think you should confront Mal'Ganis a little sooner

also, send out several groups to destroy the houses

you only need like 4 troops (footmen or knights) to do a good job

you will be 'culling' much faster

Thanks guys! I made it past the mission easily with your help.

Now I've made it to the "Burn the Boats" mission but I keep getting bogged down by the undead and can not destroy the last boat before time runs out. What did you people do to get past this mission?

*sigh* I thought I would be a good little apolytoner and pre-order WC3 through the chips&bits banner ad. Here it is the 7th and they still haven't even shipped it. The worst part is that I was at the Wiz on Friday buying a CD for my kid and I had to walk right past the WC3 display. grumble, grumble

OMG, that was traumatic the first time I played it. I lost the mission 99-100

I just went for it. I got it right first time, I bought the Mercenaries needed and just went through it.
If you don't want to fight, try running away, it works pretty well sometimes, I noticed

My God, that's one of the easiest missions.

I simply killed the guy twice in a row, he disappears for two minutes...

IIRC, he disappears for three minutes, but anyway, yeah it turned out to be an easy mission in the end.

At some stage you should find huts where they'll sell you Mercs (Ogres and Berzerkers). I believe I came across three of them on the way...

Quite a funny side-note, I lost all my Mercs before arriving at the final ship...which was quite funny if you then watch the movie after you complete the mission...
