  • Well ... i did all of that (including copying the video directory) and it still does nothing when i open the exe.

any chance someone with the crack for the latest patched english version could zip up a copy of their modded .exe and email it to me (frustratedpoet@hotmail.com)?

this is all very irritating. I really want to play this game, but it I can't get it to run (the exe crack probably won't solve the problems anyway) then I'm gonna have to take the game back. I generally prefer PC games, but the one major, MAJOR, plus about console game is that when you buy it and bring it home you know that it is definitely going to work ... no worries about system specs, exe cracks, compatibility issues there.

maybe I should buy an XBOX to play this game on?

        • Man, even under maximum compression the exe's are still 2 mb. Still, you might only need one of the exe's, in which case it's only 1 mb...

          • .ace is a compressed file. Are you renaming the .ace file to .exe, or are you extracting the file inside and renaming that file to the right .exe?

            • You can get the crack as a .zip file too... just search a bit more.

Just got the game, myself... AWESOME it is .

you mean the ledge partway down on the right??

is it right in that room there?

                • try getting the patch to install. supposedly they removed all copy protection and fixed some bugs. however the game ran fine for me without it.

Uh it's great on the xbox---if you have a late model PC.

The highest view distance on the xbox is about 1/2 of what my pc will do...

I agree. FP are you sure the instructions told you to rename the .ace file?
Winace is a compression utility that uses .ace as the extension of its archived files. You might want to try opening it with Winace. If it works then those instructions are probably messed up.
Some downloads do use renamed file extensions due to certain hosts having an aversion to (and deleting) .zip files (and others) but its a little unusual to use the extension of another archiving utility ...

www.winace.com in case you don't have it already.

I wouldn't go with the Xbox though. You'd be missing out on all of the plugins already coming out of the woodworks.

This is true, but I rather enjoy laying on my couch playing this game. Plus not having to screw around with patches, man that is a pain in the butt.

/me didn't know what an .ace file was.
                          /me feels like am idiot.

Thanks a lot for pointing out where I was going wrong guys!

I don't have winace, nor had I ever heard of it actually, so that's why I was confused.
Thanks for the link Rav, I'll be able to get the crack to work now, .... i can only hope that it'll make the game run.

Yeah, and if you compare the price of an XBox with the price of a PC that is good enough to run Morrowind with high graphical settings then it becomes an even better deal.

                            • Puzzle Box at the bottom of the ramp onto the floor of the Hall of Centrifuge there is another (much less ramp-like) ramp that goes up again - really it looks most like a scaleable pile of rocks - this takes you to the floor directly above the three doors - from here you can enter a room - guarded by 'Boss Cato' or something like this and lo and behold

Drop to Desktop a possible reason is another process in contention for the machine - best bet is something like Windows Goddamm Task Scheduler - pause this dratted misbegotten piece of sh*t if not destroy it completely - other candidates are your mail handler - do you have a 24/7 connection and leave your mailhandler on? and any other 'background utilities' such as virus scans and firewalls - hope this helps
