But I like that first weapong, the one that fires wood... funny to stand close to an enemy and pull the trigger, then see him fly away

From ADG, the man who often disses FPS games, but strangely has an opinion on every single damn one that comes out after having played it.

I have to test them to see if they're worth buying... just haven't found many interesting fps games yet... at least not for quite some time... But I'm still testing them in hope a good one is made

so lets see if you diss a type of game and you DONT play it then youre a fool who talks about what he doesnt know, and if you diss a type of game you DO play then your a what? - a hypocrite? dishonest?

Whats the median where its ok to diss a genre, setting, whatever? Played a couple of games, but thats it? Played the games only when they get to the bargain bin?

Hehe ADG has played the games so is entitled to give an opinion on them. The point was just that for someone who often expresses unflattering opinions on such games he sure plays a lot of them.

I don't think you can quantify at what point someone's opinion on a genre is valid. If they have played no games then they are criticising in ignorance, which as you know annoys me. It depends on the statement I guess.......if you want to make sweeping statements (as most people that want to criticise do) you need to have a more wide experience I think. If they just want to say I don't think this genre is for me then maybe one or even less.

I don't hate the fps genre... there just haven't been any good fps games for some time... at least that's my opinion...

ADG: That's fair enough. But if it isn't doing it for you then don't complain about the size of the portions, change the restaurant.

I can never get a handle on your opinions though. You seem to criticise for lack of depth, but then praise games towards the mindless end of the genre like Serious Sam (2).

Games should either be serious + realistic or it should be fun (in humour)... or it should be action packed

As I said before: Far Cry might be a good game, I just haven't played it enough to judge it, that's why I only mentioned graphics (mostly)... Serious Sam is far from realistic and serious, but it's got a great humour
Unreal Tournament (the first one, and 2004) is action packed and gets from me

You will note, good Doctor, how circumspect I was in the "games i have no respect for thread". I have resolved not to comment on certain individual games and genres till ive played them.

I dont necessarilly want to support certain games, but that may just give me a valid reason to resort to a certain canine residence. Still, its not my gaming priority.

Well if I was some small influence in encouraging you to criticise with knowledge instead of from a position of ignorance, then my work is done.

Truly, you may like, or may not like the games. However those that make blanket statements, or extrapolate from one game to all, with not enough knowledge, get right on my nerves. I see it as my duty to educate them.

Let me know if you want some opinions on games to play - I always have lots of those.

Yeah I too like both the mindless games (I recall you are not a Halo fan, but I think it's great fun) for a bit of fast shooter action as well as particularly liking the Deus Ex plot driven end of the genre. There is room in what is a huge genre for both I think.

Any Movie making game would struggle hard to be as devoid of gameplay as Wet: The Sexy Empire

MMOGs I hope turn out good:
                                Warhammer
                                City of Heroes
                                Middle Earth Online

                                Normal games:
                                Crusader Kings
                                Rome: Total War

Games I hope undergo a miraculous resurrection:
                                Jefferson
                                Fallout 3

Games I don't want to see but probably will:
Civ 4 in the style of Civ 3
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.
                                H.Poincaré
