So nobody has an opinion of Duke nukem?
FIne I'll start with my opinion. Duke 2-d was better b/c
1: 2d sidescrolling rules.
2: it was less serious than the others
3: this sort of plays to number 2 but in a different way, it was cartoony
4: 3-d was wayy to dark in terms of environment
5: you could actually see how cool you looked in 2-d when you killed demon o whatever
6: in 3-d all you see is what you kill
7: 2-d had far superior level design
8: music was better too

Kalonike: Only we women? Poor Greece!

WHat was the goal of imperialism? Taking over the world?
in Imp2 the world is divided in old world provinces, and new world provinces. To win you have to take over the majority of old world provinces. Take over new world provinces basically to gain the wealth to win the struggle in the old world.
A very stylzed view of geopolitics 1500 to 1800 - where first Spain uses its dominant position in the new wolrd to finance a drive for supremacy in Europe, than the Netherlands fights back in the new world to finance its resistance in the old world, than France and England engage in over a hundred years of linked struggles in the new and old worlds. Basic moral of the game is that rivalries in Europe were the driver of overseas imperialism.

So do you at least get to choose wehter or not your a commie or a soviet, or something cool like that?
No, there is no internal politics in Imperialism (1 or 2). There is a fairly rich economic model, there is war and diplomacy, there is the ability to either conquer natives or to diplo annex them, there are trade boycotts, etc but there are no govt forms, no happiness issues etc.
Its a fairly abstract game in many respects, which makes the AI tougher, and makes the game fair elegant, but its NOT a detailed simulation. If you want that, play EU.

I liked the change in IMP2, where by you had the moral(well to me it is) issue of how to deal with the New World. And depending on what you did had a nice cost/effect for each course of action.......and how that impacted on your Old World relationships, a very fun thing to play with
As for Duke - i played the 3d version for a few mins once, not my thing so i cant comment on it.
Emperor of the Fading Suns - its a game i saw at a friends along time ago. Anyone played it and recomend it? My mate might still have it
, and i was intriuged by the space opera theme.

Yes, such a decision lies at the heart of every great game.
Ecept Morrowind, and KOTOR, but then they both have the moral dillemmas(More so in KOTOR, than in Morrowind) and the whole evil/capitalist to enlightened/commie thing still sort of can be seen.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

I'm guessing you missed the sarcasm in my last post.
Dos-games?
I never owned many dos-games, but I guess most Amiga games existed in a dos-version on the PC...
My favorite dos/Amiga -games is Civ1, Conquest of the new World*, Chewy - Escape from F5, and lots of other games to include that I haven't thought about right now...
* I believe it's dos... not 100% sure though, since it works in Windows... not XP though
