Zop is the son of Jamski, the heir. Jamski rents one farm to Jonny's Family, i.e it is a farm for which Zop has a valid claim but cannot own. If Zop kills all of Jonny's family, Jamski will have no choice but to give it to him, for the farm to continue being productive.
Besides, a guy who shots two bullets in the head every time is pretty much skilled in guns. Zop is in charge of the windmill. Where could you possibly train with guns in another place than the only noisy and remote place of the village, i.e the windmill?
