Chapter III
The moon was full as Apolytonians went into their homes for the night. Many homes were dull, except that of GhengisFarb, who was busy preparing his scones and teacakes for the County Cook-Off tomorrow.
"I HAVE to get these done before that Jamski realises I'm entering the competition. That bugger will steal them at the fair and claim them as his own. Oh bloody hell. I'm out of flour. And the damned windmill will be freezing cold this time of night."
GhengisFarb went out into the cold barefoot with only a duffel coat to keep his warmth. It started to rain, and he could see nothing for the precipitation hanging in the air. As he battled to keep his field of vision clear, he ran into something.
"I have to tell dad to keep his rakes off the road at this time of night"
Unfortunately, it wasn't a rake. Vovan was tied to the tree, with two bullet holes in his head.
