      • Okay, how much do we need to bail him out of Rahlcatraz or for a return ticket from Mingapulco?
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

          • I got my Commodore 64 in 1989 and since I was eight at the time and unscrupulously amoral I pirated everything in sight. I had a big pile of tapes full of illegal games, and let's face it, the c64 was a pirate's dream.

In fact, I only owned four games,* and I got all of those at the same time. By the time I got them for christmas 1989 this game and its three companion titles had all been out for a couple of years and had been bundled together in a four-floppy pack containing all four games. The game I'm after was the pick of the lot really- we could intuitively understand the rules here in Sweden (unlike the two american-specific titles) and the graphics were clear and nicely done (unlike the fourth game).

*This is technically a lie. I also owned a copy of Postman Pat which I never understood and in which Pat's car kept getting stuck on objects. After a particularly futile and buggy session I took out the casette and pulled all the tape out, then binned it. I felt guilty about it for weeks afterwards.

                  • Er, that was the clue right there. The story of how I guessed Monty On The Run is much more improbable and complicated.
