The main fact about the War of Jenkins' Ear was that Jenkins was a pirate and a general all-round thug. The British were just looking for any excuse to start a war with Spain, and found it in Jenkins.

One more important thing to add is that Israel was fully mobilized for three weeks before the war started. Essentialy, on the 19th of May, when the UN forces left Gaza and Sinai, most of the able bodied men were already in uniform.
As a result, the economy was paralised and the only choice was to either release all the reservniks, not a smart thing to do with Arab armies waiting on the borders, or to attack.
Think of it this way. Israel was under siege and with no resources, so the only choice was to try and break the siege.

So this was right after Israel was formed then? It's amazing how fast they got their defense together for possible threats. They did exactly what they were supposed to do.. strike first, strike hard and believe in it.

Once again the underdogs has shown the power of high morale beating the odds and pushing the aggressors back. They should do a hollywood movie with big budget about it, with huge fighting scenes.

Now that I know more about this (I already knew it was in 60's, Israel vs. Egypt plus some other countries but that was it).. actually I remember being in Jaffa gates(?) and this dude told us that it was a place for some fighting in 6 day war. Do I remember correctly?

I want to know more about the actual fighting. Everything to little details. Can anyone help me out? There was that book someone recommended.. are there any good web sites about it? I'm very interested about this.

Israelis fight like they do because they have their backs to the Med. That said, there's something beautiful in the sacrifices made for the greater good, the courage to fight at such odds...on the squad level, the individual level. Heroism the norm. What a bunch of guys!

Plus, the Israelis know how it's done, because the US had been planning just such a fight against the Soviets. Our doctrine was proven and perfected in the mideast wars that the Israelis won with such determination and...craft.

Of course, in the 90s the 11th ACR kicked their ass in training and taught them even more.

Lancer, that's what makes it even more interesting since they have nowhere to back down or flee. It's fight to the last man meaning exactly that. I like that. That's the only attitude of fighting I appreciate, and that's fight to the last man with fierce attitude, protecting own families and killing the enemies where they stand.

I don't know anything about the game or these scns, but I was searching for info on the Israeli 7th armored brigade in the Golan, and found them. Might be interesting?

Anyway, find out as much as you can about the 7th and their stand in the Golan. '73 was it? What heart! I'll look some more.

I bet Israeli posters have learned this about in school to an extent they can call themsevels experts on this issue, so can anyone forward me to right direction? I'm interested in the actual fighting. Like how the strikes were organized and planned, how they destroyed enemies air forces in detail, ground troop attack, maybe maps, numbers, statistics, stories about smaller fights, maybe some special forces action, weaponry, the actual plan of striking the enemy and how it was exectude with exact timeline (maybe with half an hour info, like 6:30 pm A company started ..... etc.), intel info about the enemy before, during and after strikes, plan B, C etc if not enough effect, important locations and their meanings, possible turning points of war to either way etc.

Good example for kind of info I'm looking and the way it is represented can be found www.winterwar.com , not trying to do any commercials here but I like that site because they have info on little details too, and stories, diaries, maps.. the works.
